Man its been a minute.....but i used to fly for a company in VNY and the Chief Pilot was one of the helicopter pilots on the show. He had his helmet in a case in the corner of his office. This was circa 1995. Cool that people are keeping these memories alive.
Thank you so much for sharing. What an artist Steven is. A perfect 1:1 of the iconic Airwolf helmet. Long live Airwolf and the great Jan Michael Vincent and Ernest Borgnine.
Hello everyone, I am Steven W Stull and it was nice of William to post this video. I see Mark Cairnes chimed in from Airwolf Themes. Mark has a history with Airwolf and has been to our Lake house where I built Airwolf. Mark has the original JMV Flight suit from the show, And the original boots. I own the original Airwolf helmet from the show and it is documented and it is not nice. Over 30 years and being banged around has taken it's toll. The originals had a huge metal box that the stage hands controlled the helmet. The screen used ones are not self contained as mine are. The screen used ones were operated by air pressure and needed off site air compressor. They had no interior at all. Stage hands stuffed foam around the actors heads. They did not like this. The pilot helmet that Davie Jones wore when flying Airwolf had a simple cheap "hard hat" plastic insert in the helmet. Mine are 2nd season helmets as first shown in Sweet Britches. My screen used helmet is beat and cracked and no interior. I created a drop in ridged fiberglass interior conformed like a race car seat. These can be worn and comfortable now without changing the outside original look. Anyway, The author of this video "William" Did a great presentation and the BIG Airwolf people are watching. I recently sold the ADF pod to a collector and the chain guns and side panels and front radar nose treatment are still owned by Clark. I greatly depended on Clark to help me recreate Airwolf. SWS...out
Would be interested in purchasing one of these amazing helmets. Ive tried looking it up but unable to find anything. Could you please assist? Thank you.
I got a set of reproduction Airwolf blueprints from Steven to hang in my workshop, he's awesome! I followed along on his 1:1 Airwolf build on the old forums back in the day. Every new post was like being a kid on Christmas morning, lol
A few small Corrections to your video.... Steve did not work on the original series. The first mould for the Replica Helmet originally came off Ernie Borgnine's helmet. Steve fashioned the custom inner shell, which is far more comfortable than Ernie's helmet which is a pig to wear as they had no inner shell and were uncomfortable. Jan & Ernie hated wearing them. Steve hated wearing it. I hated wearing it. Steve's Replica Airwolf Helmets are uber-fantastic quality. The inner number plate is a lovely recent update feature. Enjoy the helmet. You'll have it forever.
I always find it interesting hearing the "behind the scenes" information about the show. It's something that the folks who worked on the show as cast or crew knew years back and fans of the show are just now finding out. Thanks for sharing. Airwolf is one of the best action shows from the 80's.
It was indeed a beautiful helmet, fully functional. Unfortunately I sent the helmet back to Steven and he was supposed to resize the collar to fit over my head. Steven ended up ghosting me, I never got the helmet back and had to file a dispute with PayPal to get my money back. If I had known he was going to do that I would have just kept it for display. Unfortunately there are a number or Redit and RPF threads complaining that he also ghosted them after they sent money for a helmet they never received.
Wow...what a great replica to own, who cares what it cost, that's pretty amazing. Like you said a nice dedicated plaque inside, something real special. Airwolf and star Trek...what more do you need in life.
Lovely to see one of these helmets being unboxed. I followed the build of his replica chopper many years ago. Being a Replica K2000 vendor iv always had thoughts of purchasing one of these items myself from Steven as I really do recognise the skills and craftsmanship shown in the end product. Loving your Airwolf videos 👍 thanks again for sharing
As a kid i was obsessed with airwolf. I remember thinking how come they rarely have the visor down, its so cool. It never occurred to me jean michael vincent was, at the time, the highest paid actor and they might as well get their money’s worth and show his face.
There needs to be a wearable version for motorcycles to look cool at traffic lights. That reminds me, the same goes for Street Hawk and Star Wars Red 5 helmets....Halo...so many helmets! its a gold mine for the manufacturer!
I grew up watching Air Wolf, Knight Rider, A Team, and The Dukes of Hazzard between those there were no other TV shows. I rode Harleys for a lot of years and even though I never wore a helmet, I have to say I would wear that one for sure. I know it's a collector's item but damned if I didn't actually wear it in the highway.
Beyond Cool. Love it. Got a model show on Saturday and still trying to widdel down what I'm going to bring to be judged. wish me luck. First show in three years very excited. Even the Mrs is going to root for me....LOL. Great Video as usual Will. Thanks.
@@theensignschair Bonjour , êtes vous fabriquant car j aimerai avoir ce type de casque pour ma formation pilote , merci de bien vouloir me confirmer le prix .
Wow that is amazing detail on the replica helmet, definitely looks like the ones used to film the episodes back in the day. One question for you, can the visor display the blinking red outline targeting square that would appear when one of the missiles would be fired towards an enemy fighter jet or chopper???
You have to watch this in the highest resolution possible to get an idea of the care and craftsmanship that went into this replica. Thank you so much for sharing.
This is such an awesome helmet. Makes me want to get 1 of these helmets myself. I have been looking for a diecast model of Airwolf but can't seem to find 1 anywhere. Thanks for sharing this great looking helmet.
Thank you for sharing. Now for a friendly advice: 1. It is preferable that you use 12 AA batteries instead of 3 9V batteries because the servo will operate very fast with the 9V batteries and the visor might hit hard the surface of the AIRWOLF helmet and damage the paintwork. Surely you don't want that! 2. NEVER and I repeat NEVER clean the visor or any part of the helmet with alcohol wipes as they will damage the lacquer/clear varnish protection!!! Use only a damp cloth. I have one too and I know the feeling. Greetings from Malta.
I bought the one before jj stevind and got vip for the airwolf party and the decal had so much fun with Mitch , I had the special edition gold edition made for me I don't have a issue what I paid close to 19,000 great crafts men ship. 24kt gold edition airwolf
Thank you so much for showing. I love Airwolf and I always asked me if there are still that helmets. I’ve only got one question, where did you get this amazing thing? And the little details are perfect and the plate in the inside. Just an awesome replica.
I was browsing through RU-vid and I saw that title, and I thought this might have been a motorcycle helmet! I mean, there are airbrushed motorcycle helmets depicting certain stuff, I thought this might have been one of these. Still, very cool stuff.
I am surprised, though pleased this video showed up in my feed today. The piece is gorgeous and I felt like a kid on a candy store watching you open it. I do not recall seeing this particular shade of grey on the show, but still it looks unique and i actually like it better than what appeared to be black in the episodes. Is this the phantom grey I've heard referenced to the helicopter paint color? Thanks for sharing.
Amazing looking alike from the show but a major flow in the built of this replica: The missing square flashing trough the shield when Hawk locked up on his target before firing missiles .. and only for that huge miss I wouldnt be buying it ..
I would love to know how to get ahold of one of those because I've actually tried to purchase 1 before and the website wouldn't work if you have any contact information for that Gentlemen other other social media I would like to know about it
Unfortunately I don't think he's actually selling those helmets anymore because I contacted his forward business partner and he doesn't have any contact information and they don't conclude business anymore either so I don't know where you would actually get another airwolf replica helmet
Deep curiosity and a profound love of Sy-Fi as well as SPFX, I HAVE to ask,..........can this helmet be purchased, that is DOT Certifed? Wouldn't THAT be cool. Hey, Mr. Stahl, whadiya think?
Awesome! I want to buy one! And I can wait for it until it's finished and ready for shipping (to Germany). Please provide any contact data from Steven. I would like to sign up! Thank you!
No, unfortunately after this video was made I sent the helmet back to Steven for resizing, he then ended up ghosting me and I had to go through PayPal to get my money back. Other people have reported similar issues where they paid for helmets they never received. I would stay away from ordering anything from Steven!
OMG!!! The 2nd/3rd reason I went into military to work on/fly helicopters. I have 3 different flight gear. 2 from WWII, then mine. That would be awesome in there. I know what I want for bday and Christmas..Thanks for sharing, really big thanks for sharing..Had a great crew for the show. To this day still highly respect Jan Michael Vincent, Ernest Borgnine.
I'm pretty sure that was projected onto the visor from an external projector, not from the actual helmet. Though in the show it appeared to come from the helmet, in reality I don't believe the prop helmet had that capability. That's a Steven Stull question!
I ABSOLUTELY ❤💕💓 it. I be so nervous to touch it certainly not without gloves & i very much doubt i would ever wear it let alone try it on. Although the temptation would be very strong in wanting to.🤔🤔🤔🤔😳. I would proberly have at least! two Maybe one i would wear the other would be locked securely away in a glass show box for viewing only & would remove the batteries or battery from it not to damage the unit. Does this one fit your head 🤔 & did you use it to ride on either your own motorbike ( if you have one) or pillion on someone elses bike or best idea simply locked it away for display only ?
Keep a eye on Ebay, they come up every once in a while. I don't think Steven is making them anymore and even if he is he's ripped off too many people at this point to take a chance on trying to buy one from him.
