NTA, but you cant force your dad to put her in your will or force other people to accept her. Its really sweet that your giving her the live she deserves

I just see it as if she was straight up adopted. If his parents didn’t know anything about her bio parents, would they still see her differently? I don’t think the grandpa was an AH for excluding her, but I am really glad they were able to talk it out like adults and come to a good conclusion.

NAHs Unfortunately you can’t force ppl to your way of thinking and level of acceptance. If they accept her but not see her as family there’s nothing you can do. It sucks but it’s reality, some ppl value blood-ties. The update is a happy one tho, gramps obviously needed time to sort it out and possibly a stern talking to from his wife. BUT I hope with it “getting around” it didn’t end up in the ears of the daughter and children bc that would do damage

True, but how does he explain to his daughter that the grandparents never considered her "real" family when her siblings get an inheritance. Sounds like they want the benefit of a familial relationship without the honesty...

NTA, especially seeing as that’s OP’s daughter at the end of the day. 2:46 - 2:52 , OP’s father saying that is totally annoying af. However, you can’t force your dad to see a child a certain way. If he believes DNA is what makes up a family then that’s his beliefs. I’m someone who doesn’t believe that seeing as we tend to marry people who aren’t even DNA relatives, but they’re seen as family. It’s just the hypocrisy of the whole “blood relatives” thing. I genuinely see the situation as OP adopting a child & his family not accepting that child as his child. It’s literally that, but except the daughter was conceived from his ex-wife’s affair.

Why would you sign a birth certificate if you think the baby isn’t yours before getting paternity test. I would say pushover but you didn’t stay with the Cheater, sooooo.
