the government is allowed to ban people from producing music in the uk. they are also allowed to use lyrics as evidence and confession to crimes aka self snitching. so if they are paranoid about self snitching while still wanting to rap the lyrics they put on mask. or if conversley they have already been persecuted and banne dfrom making music or something the mask can be another layer of obfuscation to say that isnt me in the videos. im from the us this is just my interpretation correct me if im wrong.
Not quite right mate. They're allowed to ban specific people who are, shall we say, not conducive to the well being of society. They're not banning the music, they'retaking action against the little cunts running around London pushing violence and gang culture through their music... whilst being part of said violence and gangs. Main reason they wear masks is they are talking about guns. Over hear possession of a firearm is an absolute offence... this means that intention doesn’t come into it, you have a gun and minimum 5 years imprisonment. Greate reaction mate, stay safe
they wear masks for two reasons: 1) Their music videos can't be used as evidence against the person if they can't be identified. 2) Their identity being revealed may fuck up their personal life because people want him dead, won't leave family alone etc. prime example is M Huncho
So little background on U.K. drill, majority of drill rappers wear masks as they either have pending cases and lyrics can be used in court against them or some just wear masks for the sake of wearing it. Recently some drill rappers have revealed their faces if not in videos then on socials I believe they have done that in order to really blow in music, there are hundreds if not thousands of drill rappers around the U.K. and what you’ll find is that many of them have their own unique flow which makes them identifiable on the scene.
