How I miss gorgeous Aix. It’s where I first studied French as a young man of 29. The beauty, history, culture and architecture left a remarkable footprint that changed my life in many wondrous ways. It still remains my second home!

Milles mercis, Aselya - my lover & I, along with our adorable golden labrador, rented an apartment in Aix with a little courtyard garden - you have brought it all back - the wide boulevards & the little side streets; the tall Plane trees, the fountains everywhere, in every 'Place', and the sunshine always lighting the clean stonework and painted houses . . . . vraiment, un petit paradis . . . mais - she fell in love with a lady priest (English) . . . we are now divorced, but I still live in France, and will do for all my days. Despite huge numbers of tourists, no rubbish on the streets, no overflowing bins lining the street, no graffiti on the walls, no illegally parked cars. Well maintained private buildings. A city under control for the benefit of the people. What on earth has gone wrong with the UK. The condition of the environment and the respect people have for it is indicative of the mental mindset of the country. Couldn’t care. Don’t care.

Beautiful video of Aix. I was fortunate to spend 5 weeks there as a student in 1978. Wonderful memories of my time there. It was not as commercialized then as it is know. I have been twice since and love to return although too many people there now for my taste. The institute I attended is steps away from the cathedral

I’m so glad you got to stay overnight. You made the city more enjoyable by not having to rush through it. The art was spectacular. That pizza was food art, for sure. But you and Chris standing on the outdoor terrace at the apartment made me realize even more that nothing will beat the terrace you have at home!

I will never forget my visit there!!! We went to Le Deux Garcons for lunch and while there OBSCURE Prince songs were playing from the speakers. Prince was my favorite and I was pleasantly shocked. One of our friends said it was a sign I would move there. My husband and I were on the verge of divorce at that time so it was sad for me. I move to France to be with my husband this year!!!!!!!!!!!!

Would’ve been lovely to meet up when you were here although I missed La Flamme since I was in Italy, apparently it passed right in front of my house 😮. For everyone curious there is a market everyday in Place Richelme from 8 to 1pm and Tuesday, Thursday and Saturdays are the best days to see all 4 markets from 8 to 1pm.

Ohhh thank you so much for sharing this beautiful video. We spent a week in Aix last month and loved it, was a bit quieter however it is a spacious village and not many vehicles so very enjoyable. Adore the architecture and especially the beautiful artisan shops. We will be back for a longer stay in the future but so enjoyed reminiscing with your gorgeous video thank you both ❤❤

My favorite part was your enthusiasm at having a rooftop terrace!!! We stayed 20 yrs ago at bastide du roi Rene. We found it by accident and it did not disappoint. We loved Aix. My son painted from a picture of me writing in my journal while I was sitting in the garden by the fountains. Precious memories.

We have stayed three times in Aix, in Hotel Negre Coste on Cours Mirabeau and it has parking. We love Aix and always visit the market every day it is open.

Indeed, it’s a wonderful experience to visit Aix. I was there in 2022 for a nostalgia visit and I stayed there for 2 months in 2019. It’s full of fond memories. Thank you so much for a beautiful vdo.

We spent our honeymoon in Aix 14 years ago! So happy to see familiar places :-)
