Hi, wow it's weird to see a right hand drive Aixam. I live in France, VERY rural, and after my mother died, I needed to get about. Problem - no driving licence. Solution? An Aixam 400 that I called "Felicity". She taught me to drive and did me for a year until the rear pulley started to fail. The cost of repairs was more than the car would be worth, so I traded in for an Aixam GTO (that I call Caoimhe!). But, yes, the fact that I can pull into a petrol station with a half empty tank and fill it for about €9 is kind of mind blowing. The French don't tend to give rude gestures. They just go around, at speed, on a blind bend, with oncoming traffic. I have a dashcam. One of these days it'll record something RU-vid worthy, and facepalm inducing. The only bad thing about Aixam (other than the racket) is the price. As a specialist car, they're horribly expensive. But, you know, something comfortable to drive *without* a licence? Yup. And, okay, it only does 45kph (a mite under 30mph, it's the legal limit), but that's fine. I'm not one of those people that smokes two fags, chugs a coffee, and leaves for work twenty minutes late. I just take my time, enjoy whatever is on the radio, and the scenery of the country roads and endless green fields. So, from one Aixam owner to another, 👍.
@ESCAPINGTHEMATRIXFORGOOD
@ESCAPINGTHEMATRIXFORGOOD 3 года назад
Hello, sorry to hear of your Mum, you will all be back together one day. I have had the top bearing on the drive pulley replaced twice now on mine, a common fault, they only tend to last 25,000 miles on the older Axiams, At a cost of around £450 each time. I have now had my Axiam for 12 years and im just getting ready to sell it, but im expecting only about £150 for it as it is looking tatty now (16 years old in total), might even get less for it ! they are great cars, i love them but now it is time for me to get an electric car, even lower costs to run as i have solar panels on the roof of our house to help charge it. thanks so so much for your comment, very interesting to read. keep safe and well, thanks for popping by. good luck with your new Axiam.

thats a good investment especially if you young, my dad said he would like to buy loads of solar panels then laughed and said he would not be around long enough to reap the benefits,( he says things like that) the initial outlay is a lot, but over a lot of time it pays for it self, im going to google the Chevy volt to have a look at it, thanks for popping by and take care.

Lol, I can't afford it either. He sunk a lot of money in his panels. His electric bill is usually about 12 dollars a month now. I think he will get his money back on them about the time his house is paid for, so he will be in good shape then......about the time his old man wants to move in :) That 2 cylinder is pretty interesting. I drive a 4 cylinder, but I don't think I've seen a 2 cylinder.

My friends granddad used to smoke a pipe and grew his own tobacco (yes in northern England). But he had to buy a licence from the 'government' stating that it was for his use only and would not sell or give to any-one else. Do you know it is legal to grow hemp in this country? as long as the thc (I think that's what its called) content is low and you also have to buy a licence from the government that costs almost £500 the first year and then nearly £400 a year thereafter. Hemp oil is THE best oil for a human body and is not difficult to make. But you can make so much more from a hemp plant. e.g. clothing, natural plastic, pesticide etc. etc. You see, the 'governors' are happy for us to do things if we pay them!
@ESCAPINGTHEMATRIXFORGOOD
@ESCAPINGTHEMATRIXFORGOOD 7 лет назад
ha ha, yes as long as we pay them, but the trouble is i dont want to pay nothing to them anymore, its easy to buy the hemp seeds, fishermen use them. i have seen tobacco plants for sale on the internet as well, but i dont smoke, but i do love a drink, a friend of a friend of a person who i dont know. (nudge nudge wink wink say no more) let me have some of there home made distilled liqueur, it was 60 % all done the correct way so you wont poison your self with methanol, it was good stuff specially knowing the government was not funded, this message will self destructed in a few days. i know nothing !

Here in France my Mega Multitruck van (also made by Aixam), has the same Kubota diesel. Unlike in the UK I don't need a drivers licence to drive it, so as a result it is supposed to be limited to 45km/h. Mine will do 55, as the dealer I bought it off delimited it slightly (it was sold like that). So very useful as a van, with the same low fuel consumption. More about it on my channel.

@@ESCAPINGTHEMATRIXFORGOOD To be honest with you, I was surprised to see an Aixam car over in the UK. Then again, I've been away from there for so long now. I thought about getting an electric Mega Multitruck (it is an Aixam, the name "Mega" had been used by them for a 4 x 4 sports car and a sort of Renault 5 looking Jeep thing... and now the van). But on the Multitruck, the batteries really don't have a long life. A replacement set would be around the 2,000€ to 3,000€ mark. Plus the electric version doesn't have a good range. 80km against about 400km with the Kubota diesel. Mine is a 2011 model, which I bought from a dealer. I'm the second owner, so it isn't in too bad a state. It is worth shopping around, as you can pay silly prices for them. Especially in France, because as I said, you don't need a licence to drive one. So those who have lost their licence - tend to plump for a "voiture sans permis"! Hope life is OK over there during lockdown. Take care.

Not to discurrage you, but: 96 mpg is 108g CO2/mile . A Tesla model 3, that goes 4 miles on a kWh in the UK where electricity has a footprint of 250g/kWh, will emit 62.5g/CO2/mile, which is only 45.5g less! When you then factor in the 8 tonnes of CO2 manufacturing the battery for a Model 3 costs, you'd need to drive 177.000 miles before you are greener than your K-car. Most likely this will take you more than 10 years at which point the battery will need replacing, which means, you'll never be a net benefit to the world! If you have solar power at home, and we put its emissions to 0g/kwh, you'll only need to drive 74.000 miles, still in ten years or less before you are green. So getting an EV is not an improvement with your lifestyle! A Tesla is an improvement for a dim American driving around in a pickup, but live in a state where electricity is relatively green. Not you. Keep your nice car and save your money.

ahhh !!! hello paul, good to here from you, i brought this car 9 years ago and yes i have slowly watched other cars become so much better to run than mine, my car used to be the cheapest on the road, i love them nissan leafs and im desperate to buy an electric car, i will have one in the future and will buy loads of solar panels to help charge it, its the initial cost thats stopping me, we are still renovating the last bits of our house then come the fun stuff like electric cars, i also swear by nissans, we no longer have our very old nissan but it was very reliable even though it was 18 years old. your one step ahead of me !! in green technology which is real good to see. thanks Paul and Sonia take care.

my corsa isnt much bigger and runs on fresh air, nearly haha. my car has nearly been killed on these scottish country roads, yours would die on the bends, but its great. who cares? I love different, mine is an auto, so its not so different )

this car is about the same size as the classic mini, ha ha my car will never get up the hills in Scotland and that is honest, it has such little power, there is plenty of fresh air in Scotland ! thats for sure unlike London, i used to live very close to London and you could taste the car fumes. country life in Suffolk now !! thanks for viewing and thanks very much for leaving a comment

I found the perfect place to live yesterday on a road trip, but my car would have to go if i went there, it would kill it. the pot holes and rough roads in the highlands are not for our kind of cars haha. I lived on an island and within 2 months i needed new coils because the roads killed my car. )

Cars CAN be so clean and green and not fuel monsters. But the 'powers' who are paid to be wont allow them! My great granddad invented an engine that could run just on air, and I mean the use of oxygen around us (or as it used to be in those days) and guess what? He had a visit from the military (yes that's right) warning him not to go any further with it and they also took all his diagrams and notes! Needless to say, like many other planet friendly stuff it's a no-goer! Perhaps he should have kept the idea to himself, but that wasn't his way.

Grow soapwort, it's a weed herb so keep it contained. It grows very fast and then you gather the leaves and/or roots and boil them then let them steep for about an hour, You can then use it as a very efficient natural mild cleanser for your body, face, carpets, dishes and whatever! I do it. The National trust has done it for years to clean old paintings and tapestries. It saves you paying out for unilever products that are mainly synthetic chemical and put a big chunk of your money into the government pocket. Live natural and give joy x

thanks for that tip, i will defiantly look into that, we make our own fabric softener at the moment and when we have finished renovating the cottage we will start making our own detergents and lots more, we dont use any chemical products at all,(mainly lemon juice and vinegar for cleaning) we have a cess pit and to get them working there best they need to be chemical free. also the drainage bed is going into our ground so we dont want to pollute it. we are a very organic family. we will be more self sufficient as time goes on. we are going to get a dairy goat, we want to make our own cheese, we have a water well that we are going to connect to the house, we have massive plans for growing more veg, ive just brought 10 fruit trees to plant, more willow coppice to be planted soon for fire wood, the list is never ending, i would like to be over 80% self sufficient in a years time increasing more in future years. of course there will be videos on this. but all your tips will be gratefully welcome, thanks so much im now off to google soapwort. take care
