I got the A07 a few weeks ago. It's awesome! It came with a 36v 6a power supply but I ordered a 48v 7.5a power supply. The only problem with the new power supply is it has an extremely loud fan on it!!! It makes a big difference to the sound though. About 95w with 36v supply and 135w with the 48v one (@6 ohms). I'm running it with a Topping DX3 pro plus dac and Sony SS-DX50 speakers (140w 6 ohm) and a powered subwoofer wired crossover.

Anyone watching this review probably already knows this, but you can run an A07 in bridged mono without doing any mods, flipping any switches, or anything. What that means is that these little guys are just about future-proof: You can continue to upgrade the op-amps as better ones come out; you can upgrade the power brick; and then, if that's not enough, you can get a second one and run them as monoblocks.
@CinemaDemocratica
@CinemaDemocratica Год назад
@Douglas Blake Interesting! There's a youtube video of a guy doing it, but that doesn't mean he didn't do damage right after the camera went off. Can you elaborate on what makes it a bad idea -- shock hazard, fire hazard, damage to the amp, all three?
@CinemaDemocratica
@CinemaDemocratica Год назад
@Douglas Blake I apologize for not knowing the initialisms, but it sounds like the A07s can be used as dual monoblocks, but only if they've been modded specifically for that purpose? So who does the mod -- do I do it, as with op-amp rolling, or does it need to be done by someone who knows his way around a soldering iron? And about how much would it cost in the States?
@CinemaDemocratica
@CinemaDemocratica Год назад
@Douglas Blake Okay, got it.

@@Scrufboy "Bluetooth and RCA do not sound the same" -- are you having a stroke? Where in the original comment do you see anything about Bluetooth and RCA sounding the same? This thread has been about bridging the A07 to run in mono, and whether or not it can be done without damaging the amp; nobody has been saying anything about Bluetooth vs RCA -- what the hell are you talking about?

I wasn't surprised or pulled out of the continuity of the review by finding out that you run a gently-used pair of Mission loudspeakers in your rig, but then I heard you say that you prefer them unambiguously to the Micca MB42x, at which point I was unable to stop wondering what the heck these Missions are, since the Micca comes so highly recommended and respected.
@jeanmac
@jeanmac Год назад
Just wanted to say I love this comment because I didn't think anyone would care about those Missions. I personally love them since for the size/price they really do sound great IMO. I did a comparison awhile back between these and the Miccas and I preferred the Missions hands down, wasn't even close for me. Don't get me wrong, I love the Miccas and they really do sound quite nice (esp with a bit of EQ). I think they deserve their reputation especially for its price and availability. But from what I can remember, I found the Missions had superior separation, punchier bass without being muddy, and greater clarity across the board. I could probably do a video comparing them someday. Unfortunately, the Missions don't have a model number on them at all, but based on its appearance I'm confident in saying it's some kind of Mission 731. But whether it's the 731 or 731i or 731 pro or whatever I really couldn't say.
@CinemaDemocratica
@CinemaDemocratica Год назад
@@jeanmac I just looked them up, hoping there would be some extremely subtle cosmetic difference -- but no. Maybe we can check by the serial numbers, if you have those. Or maybe you don't care that much, which is also kewl. :D

I have just ordered my first chinese mini amp, the Aiyima A07 Pro at Ali for my Dali Oberon 3 speakers and active Mivoc Hype G10 sub and am so excited. A lot of Hi-Fi enthusiasts and audiophiles say the Hi-Fi World has changed. I'm wondering if the Pro will outperform my superb sounding expensive 90s Marantz PM 66 SE KI amp tuned by Ken Ishiwata. And a short hint for everyone who needs more RCA Inputs. Just buy a Dynavox AUX-S cinch box with 5 slots. Need mine for Wiim Mini incl. Fiio DAC, 2 x CD player, tuner, MD player. Could be the perfect choice. To be continued...

@@aadastra I received the Aiyima A07 Pro today and it plays the whole day - Wiim Mini Spotify via cinch. I have not tried bluetooth yet. But I can tell ya I'm extremely impressed. My no. 1 album to hear all differences in comparison is Pink Floyd Dark Side Of The Moon. The seperation of the instruments and the stage is much better than the Marantz. When I compare it with my very best amp from the 70s, Technics SU-7700 there is only little between them. The Technics is a bit more warm and pushes the mids more through whilst the Aiyima is more neutral, analytical and delivers a lot of fine sparkles through the speakers - but it never fatigues you. What I find unbelievable is the great Bass response. There is virtually no need for a sub any more. I have the bass exactly put in the middle. The Oberons go lower than ever. Wow ! You may trust me that you are very save buying this Aiyima amp. I love it. The Hi-Fi world really has changed !

for an extra $10 you could use a usbc dongle dac, abigail or apple dac are the most common, it gives a slight quality improvement ( i hear an improvement vs my macbook internal dac with a hardarw A/B switch to instantly the source, it is not night and day but still noticeable, apple dongle is easy to buy used for $5 so it is a no brainer)

Thank you for the great video and explanation! I have been looking for a video comparing the two and this was really informative. How do you compare these to the T9? Thank you!
@jeanmac
@jeanmac 7 месяцев назад
Thanks for watching! I don't have any experience with the T9, but I can say compared to the T9 PRO, in terms of audio quality I hold both in high regard. Any innate differences in sound signature would likely be moot since both have equalizers. I do slightly prefer the T9 PRO though; it's quite a bit smaller, and it of course earns points for the cool factor. But for pure simplicity and something more minimal looking, I'd probably pick one of the A07s.

I just bought a A07 pro and upgraded to 48v 5a is it normal for amp to runs warm even when not using or volume is turned town. It doesn’t shut off or anything? And sounds fine no static or hissing. Should I go back to stock PSU?

Nice review! I have a two-part question, though. Does the line out jack on the A07 Pro take a 3.5mm TRS plug ? Or I guess worded another way, is it a stereo line out for an amp or a mono line out for a sub? Also, does the output level change when bass, treble, or volume controls are changed? 👍👨🏻Thanks!

Nice review! I believe the original Aiyima A07 has swappable Op-Amps and the new A07 Pro does not. The A07 Non-Pro scales well with a pair Muses 02 or Sparko's (I haven't listen to the Sparko's, they are more expensive than the Muses), but depending on your personal taste you may prefer different Op-Amps. For me, being able to tinker with the device is a big plus (it is fun...). I also have a tube preamp with tone controls, so, for me the original A07 is better. Just as you said, it depends on your use scenario.

@Scrufboy Год назад
@Douglas BlakeAccording to Aiyima - U8 is the input buffer amplification. U9 is tone. U2 is left channel single end differential. U3 is right channel single turn differential. And U16 is output buffer for the line out. We at ASR have an issue with the odd explanation of U2 and U3 though as it makes no senses for the left and right channel to be doing 2 different things to each channel. Also... Swapping out the opamps, mixing and matching does have a noticeable effect on the end result. Both in the A07 and the Pro unit.
@bostongeorges937

@@Douglas_Blake Thanks for the information. For the OpAmps you are not the only one to say it... But I also hear people saying the opposite, so I wonder... as there are a lot of counterfeit OpAmps in China. Does buying OpAmps from official retailers change the hearing experience?
@Scrufboy
@Scrufboy Год назад
@Douglas Blake OK, but why would they do one thing on one channel and something different on the other? We, the few in that thread, as well as the designer of the SparkosLabs SS3602 op-amp, think it's just a lack of clarity in the response. Could it be, that because they are dual op-amps, that U2 is the single end differential for both channels? And the U3, is the single turn differential for both channels? It has 5 opamps... 1 is for input buffer of both left and right channels. One is for the tone of both left and right channels. This my reasoning for thinking that maybe the Aiyima rep. Just wasn't really clear enough with the explanation. It could have been marketing speak... Or translation issues too. But you know, just because U8 is doing something on both channels... Doesn't mean that reasoning applies to. U2 and U3 If I'm not getting it... Which it seems I'm not... Feel free to tell me in layman's terms... I appreciate the effort here in helping me understand.
@Scrufboy
@Scrufboy Год назад
@Douglas Blake Yeah.. I figured they just weren't as clear as they could have been with how they described it... This is very straight forward and much closer to what I was thinking. This was very helpful... Thanks for your graciousness and willingness to post this for me. Could I share this as a credited quote on the ASR thread?

@@Douglas_Blake Really love your points here especially the one about attention. I've always found comparing audio to be a uniquely challenging task, one that's extremely susceptible to personal biases and imperfect testing methodologies (that's partly why I keep downplaying my own opinion of the acoustic differences). The attention factor is a great one to bring up that I haven't thought of before, but I can definitely corroborate this in my experience. Even comparing the A07 to the A07 Pro, at one point I switched back to the A07 and noticed the thump in bass and I thought, "Oh, the A07 definitely has more low-end!" but once I switched back to the Pro and listened intently for it I realized they were basically equivalent; I had just not noticed it as intently. That's why I generally try not to worry too much when the differences are this hard to tell. I consider it within margin of error and I'd rather adhere to the mantra of "if it sounds good, it is good." And as someone who is definitely not blessed with god-tier ears I do feel safe to say that most people who just want to buy these amps for casual listening would have no problem with them. Really love this discussion of the circuitry though. I have practically 0 knowledge of this and I'm far from an electrical engineer so I'm learning a lot. I did actually see the ASR thread before posting this but I didn't think you guys would find this crummy video lol. Hopefully you guys found it helpful in some way.
