I'm depressed about AJ Styles leaving, but for this segment, it felt like TNA was awesome again. AJ Styles' character turning into a dark hero was the most compelling storyline I have seen in any wrestling company in years. His ascension to the World Heavyweight Championship was more than a year in the making. I really hope he comes back, either soon or eventually.
Has anyone else realized that this storyline is an exact copy of the John Cena-CM Punk storyline. AJ (Punk) wins the title and leaves, Dixie (Mr. McMahon) has a tournament to find a new champion, Magnus (Cena) wins, and when Magnus (Cena) is celebrating AJ (Punk) comes back to challenge him to a unification match
AJ is the greatest wrestler to come out of TNA. He is their greatest achievement. It's such a damn shame he's gone. I'll definitely follow him to ROH or wherever he ends up. Hopefully TNA will gain its senses and realize AJ is the only "Legend" they need on their roster.
aj hasn't ruled out the possibility of returning to TNA. the stuff he's doing with ROH is only appearances. he has NOT signed a contract with them. he's also doing other indy shows as well, but he didn't rule out returning to TNA, so he very well could come back. there were no bridges burned.
For those saying that AJ has returned please realize that this episode was taped before he left and he has an ROH appearance scheduled for this Saturday. Last I heard AJ and his lawyer were still talking with TNA about a new contract but we don't really know much more than that (anything confirmed that is). And also for those saying that this reminds them of Cena vs. Punk realize that storylines like this have been happening long before that and in a lot of different companies (Shawn Michaels vs. Razor Ramon for the Intercontinental titles as an example).
***** ROH now works on contracts, either they let him sign a short deal or he's not going back anytime soon, he's a free agent right now and is booked up with indy dates up until the summer.
It's gonna be hard to watch next weeks Impact knowing it's the last time I'll see AJ in TNA. It's like watching Survivor Series 97 knowing Bret Hart signed with WCW. TNA just lost its heart.
This reminds me of a cheap rip off of when CM Punk returned after Summer Slam at RAW and stared down Cena with both the Belts taking turns holding one up
Not exactly, their version is called Feast or Fired, and the way they do it, there is 4 briefcases, they put each case on a pole in a corner, in 3 of the cases are title shots for the world, tag team and X-division titles, and in the 4th case is a pink slip that says you're fired. The match starts with a bunch of guys, and if someone gets a case, they leave the match and go to the back. The cases are revealed later, and whoever got which case, gets a shot a whatever title the inside of their case says, or if the got the case that says you're fired...well I'm sure u can figure that part out lol.
Because like MITB, they can cash in their briefcases any time they want, but that is the only thing that is the same. It began as the same concept, but TNA took it further, adding a case for all 3 main titles, and then one case with a pink slip, making things more interesting. In MITB, there is only one case, and all participants know what is in the case. In Feast or Fired, the participants know what's in the cases, but they don't know what title shot is in what case, or which case the pink slip is in, they just grab a case, hoping that they don't have the one with the pink slip.

MrFalliorsLife i know punk/cena was the same thing. that other guy thought it was 2 seperate titles being unified was it was only 1 title. you just had 2 guys with 2 belts and both laying claim to the same championship.

For the people who've been watching wrestling for about 11 minutes now and calling tna story lines a rip off- there are no truly original story lines any more. Everything is a rip off of another story from years past. To be technical the TLC Cena and Orton unification is a rip off of the WCW unification of the WCW world title held by Flair and the WCW international world title held by sting. Clash of champions in spring 1994.
TNA fucking sucks without AJ Styles, Daniels, Kazarian, etc. The only talented and entertaining wrestlers in TNA are Aries, Roode, Storm, Low Ki and Samoa Joe who has been held back since 2009. Kurt Angle of course as well but he's not an active wrestler anymore.
Amir Ali absolutely. Especially between 2011 and mid of 2013. 2012 was horrible with this pathetic "Claire" storyline. They made him champion in 2013 but did not renew his contract. Talk about horrible strategic planning ;-)
The fact that this video, which has AJ Styles in it, has 120k views while other videos in the TNA's channel only have like 30k-40k in average tells everything.
This is such a crappy rip-off of the Punk/Cena storyline from 2011, Maybe the Punk/Cena storyline could have been done better but TNA's version is bloody awful.

He already left. This was before he left, this storyline is already dead because he signed a contract for ROH and contracted guys for ROH can not appear on tv for any other company.
Ric Flair International World Champion vs Sting WCW unification is a good way to compare to this storyline. I like the idea.. it draws heat. I also like the fact that AJ is going to work in ROH Saturday. I'm a huge Punk fan but it's interesting how in his promo he said he may defend the title in ROH and now AJ is taking the title there to perform for one night.
I really really enjoyed this segment. Magnus may have had his best promo in a long long while here. AJ Styles was good, although I get this aura about him that he is just doing to finish off his obligations and leave :(
Seeing some of these old TNA clips reminds me of how terrible Dixie was on the mic. She had the annoyance of Vickie Guerrero with none of the talking ability
All these people complaining about originality must have started watching wrestling 3 years ago. Wrestling has ALWAYS been rehashes. Just a matter of who pulls it off better.
I do want AJ back and I believe he will be back once he realizes that he is not a multi million dollar megastar. I mean maybe he is not asking for the money I am thinking he is. At the same time right now or then no one in TNA should ask for or gotten major super star money till they can draw like a superstar. I do think TNA needs a younger face, A face with promise, With a great ring presence, With great mic skills. Raw Charisma and so forth. TNA is my favourite wrestling company. But I am not sold on AJ being as big as people online make him out to be. They TNA and AJ need each other. But I am not thinking AJ is as big as a deal as people say. My opinion is all
I see your opinion, but aj styles is a cornerstone in TNA because he is one of the few, that started in 2002. I he is watching it gradually get fucked over by dixie carter
James Merriweather TNA in a right state who could him styles. I hated it when hogan came in changed everything then left....I hope Jeff does create another wrestling company just don't let dixie carter or hogan near it.
