It's not the same thing, not even close. Steve and Aja are teenagers, Steve is still in High School, they're not married, and they don't even live on the same planet. The whole thing is practically a joke and whenever 3Below handled serious real-life issues, they did it respectfully, which shows much the trio of idiot writers understood and cared about 3Below.

It's not the idea that the male is the one to conceive or give birth, its weird considering whether or not hes dating an alien Steve is still a human. Tbf it's clearly played for jokes which is fine but the logistics of it is weird to think about. Yes it's more likely that aliens wouldn't reproduce the same as is but it's even more likely that they wouldnt be able to reproduce with humans anyways. So I can see why people kinda get weirded out by it if they ponder on it for too long, which you might end up doing if you don't find the scenes funny, where the main joke is "boy is pregnant." My personal problem with it is I feel like it was rushed and they should've cut some of the scenes or concepts to make room for story and the steve pregnancy plotline could've been one of them. Especially considering imo it wasn't that funny anyways.

I refuse to accept that ending still. In my mind they went back to the start of the movie and took the better path to the happy ending, that's what it actually felt like GDT was setting up. I still wager the produced ending was just Netflix forcing a potential sequel door to be left open.

@@devinnall2284 I think its pretty simple. Dreamworks was making money off of it. They ended the series with that movie and they wanted to make more money off of it, so they reset everything to make another series

I was gonna say the same the whole idea behind “lets reset everything because we lost someone” makes no sense after so much sacrifice by others and losing so much precious and delicately timed parts of reality. Like is toby really worth the lives of steve and ajas CHILDREN like they loved each other and were into this reality while i was heartbroken thats death and having hard times lesson going back and erasing it prevents some good that couldnt have happened otherwise thats not always worth it. I always have thought too that on top of the reset happening making toby the troll hunter made no sense when so many times victory depended on jim being jim exactly so many times and toby proved many times physically it would have been impossible for him let alone with the timeline of fixed events. Its canon he can only use his weapon cuz its magically made light. I know the logic is we dont know how things would have gone in every situation and the future would have been completely different but objectively it seemed with all these factors toby would have maybe ‘caused’ more people sacrificing or getting involved to reach the same outcomes jim would in any given situation

@@andapandacongufanda exactly. I’m rewatching the series & although enjoying it, I’m also getting mad at what I know will be lost. I’m on the episode where the teachers drank the grave dust, where Steve had this huge breakthrough with coach & accepted him as his father figure, no doubt affecting how he was with Aja’s babies. Now it’s all lost since Jim will make sure it won’t happen. Plus we don’t even know how coach got with Steve’s mom, could have been troll related. Like they somehow caused her car to breakdown - coach helps - romance starts - father figure for Steve. But now we won’t have any of that, or possibly a super long delay before they had a breakthrough but it won’t be the same

@@Talongirl333 yea I haven’t really been able to get into a rewatch myself cuz every time I try I end up just fixating the entire episode on how none of this happened and it would go differently. And like I said imo Toby would hands down be a worse troll hunter in general so like I just think they went back to re do things with worse chances and outcomes than the og time sigh like sometimes stories ending like that can make sense cuz you know it really will end up better and usually doesn’t mean other people won’t meet or in the case of the seven babies won’t exist at all. Even the first few episodes could you imagine how just the fight with draal would go he’d have died just then and tbh Toby didn’t have Jim’s character to show mercy and strength against the entire troll way especially that early on idk I hated that choice.

Like yes, Jim may avoid situations like encourage Toby about taking up the roll of Trollhunter instead of freaking out like at the start, but it still won’t be the same. Even his relationship with the trolls will change. Toby & Arrrggg bonded over being backup, being the wingmen. Blinky & Jim bonded over being leaders. Now father Blinky won’t even happen 😭

the movie had a horrible ending for what was a great and very ambitious trilogy of series. Three show being in the same universe and advancing a overarching plot was brilliant. But then the movie happened and ended in the worst way possible
