I remember seeing this match years ago. I refuse to believe that there isn't some sort of genuine animosity there and if there wasn't before the match there definitely was after some of those strikes. Yumiko's stigmata hand is gross but nowhere near as gross as some of those strikes. Absolutely brutal. It's one of my personal favourite Joshi matches ever and has such a unique feel to it.
Yeah, no bad blood that I am aware of. I think they were trying to really push Hotta into the main event scene at this point so decided to go really stiff since that's Hotta's gimmick.
Wow! This match got serious real quick! Some of the slaps and hits felt genuine in the beginning of the match. Aja and Hotta in a way, almost have the same fighting personality when they’re in the ring - they don’t play by the rules and at times play dirty. Which is what makes this match awesome! Two alpha females in the ring makes a brutal showdown!
At 4:24 Yumiko Hotta hits Aja Kong with a strong, stiff right fist in the eye. It looked like it was a receipt for Aja's stiffness. You can tell it was not a planned spot, and Aja is stunned that it happened. Instant "what the fuck" face and demeanor from Aja as soon as that punch was thrown. It changed the entire tone of the match. You can see Aja get shocked and confused at the strike, and it causes her to tear up immediately. She slapped Hotta, and from that point onward the fight was more brutal. The barge of strike Hotta lands just moments later is what fucked up Aja's face, who was no-selling the strikes as they came in because she was shocked Hotta was shooting. They worked stiff, and I don't know the backstory but it really does seem as simple as that one right hand thrown by Hotta.
What confused Aja was the no selling of the spinning back fist prior to that punch--that is her finisher. This match, like all their other matches, was definitely bound to be insanely stiff. And in general, when both wrestlers are kickers the matches are insanely stiff. The back story behind this match is actually simple. Hotta beat Aja in a one on one match as she was pissed, therefore put her title on the line.
@@morganstephenson7161 Hotta did block that Uraken tho, I suppose Aja didn't realize it Holy shit, these opening minutes really felt like nothing else I've ever seen before, every second of that felt like a fight, you really didn't know if it was gonna just turn into a shoot at any moment. There was just a thick tension in the air, of unpredictability and volatility with every shoot kick to the head
stigmata hand ? hahaha i like that line.. i think aja here was going for yumiko's already i think broken fingers or maybe aja thought she would weaken it ..who knows ..but both woman really put on a good show here i give em both credit. yes very painful to watch at times these sort of matches ..im sure both woman agreed to spill blood before the match tho and thats what takes guts ..may the best woman win x
no, the AJW roster was the most reckless in the entire world of wrestling and certainly wouldn't use "red ink" instead of blood. most likely, this was either an accidental cut that happened somewhere along the line or a planned part of the match. not to mention, if it's red ink you have some explaining to do about why hotta stops using that hand entirely (outside of gratuitous spreading of blood), where the replenishing supply of "red ink" is coming from for her hand to keep spreading around, how her hand appears (when visible to the camera) to be actively bleeding from the palm, and last (but not least) why she would risk damaging her opponent's eye by trying to spread the "red ink" into her eye, and finally you would have to explain why the "red ink" spreads on skin and the wrestling mat exactly like human blood
@@Draykidsbuthol Was it? I think Moolah was the most reckless. I have heard that AJW were stiff sometimes, but do you think that Japanese Women's Wrestling accept this violence? So, how Moolah dropped her belt to 2 japanese women? Ok. I don't know the truth: Was AJW a disciplined and respectful promotion? Was Moolah more reckless than the japanese?
@t What is your point of view on AJW's WWWA titles? Were they competitive? In my opinnion they represented the legacy of women's wrestling. I am sorry about the wrestler who died, but I think it was an accident. I am not here to defend AJW or offend the wrestler, but Jaguar Yokota, Mimi Hagiwara, for example, were very comprehensive and polite women.
@t We can blame the promoter, but not the girls who respected each other. For example, Io Shirai is like Jaguar and Manami were. They were disciplined and represented the a"Red belt".
