Aji Lhamu dance is a traditional folk dance of the Sherdukpen community of West Kameng District, Arunachal Pradesh. This dance is generally performed at the Gonpa during the Chhokar Festival of Sherdukpen. It is believed that there was a time when human civilization was hampered by evils, a bridge was to be constructed so that humans could cross to the other side of the river where evil would not harm them but the bridge could not be completed because of the disturbances of the evil, so Lopon Rinpoche created these five characters of Aji Lhamu from his five fingers to perform a dance in front of the evil to distract their attention from the men constructing the bridge, finally, the bridge was completed and all the human being have crossed the river away from the evil spirit and lived happily.
