AKAI is quality i still use my GXC-46 Stereo Cassette Recorder from the seventies, my AJ-520 FL Stereo Portable Radio GXC Cassette player from the eighties. And the Double Stereo Automatic Reverse GX-W45 cassettedeck from the nineties. They are all excellent & indestructible so i know what kind of quality your AKAI Taperecorder is !!!
To play it backward, put the full reel on the left side.pull tape down over the tape head like it would normally play, right to left. Take the end of the tape wrap it over the left reel to the right like normal. So the tape on the left reel will be going over the heads first, then it wraps back over the top left reel, pull tape down and thread it like normal. Now the left reel will be moving from right to left direction. But you gotta hold the pin up to keep motor going or jam paper under pin.
The video is nice but why didn't you feed the audio directly into the video? You can't tell anything about sound quality when using a cell phone's microphone.
To play backwards, put full reel on left side. Pull tape down over heads like normal. Wrap tape over top left reel, thread it like normal, after tape gets pulled threw, it will wrap under the wheel, then put end on 2nd reel like normal.so tape on left goes over heads first, back over top of reel, wraps over motor pin through wheel, under wheel to right take up reel. Real easy.
This is NOT the sound coming out of the unit directly and the unit does not in fact have a built-in amplifier. You can clearly hear the background noise from the room. I own one and there is absolutely no internal amping.
I know his was listed in 2010, but I was wondering if this Reel To Reel unit requires a separate amplifier and speakers, or is the sound coming from the unit itself?
Got mine in 1981.. Survived a fire too... It plays backwards if you know the trick! I made great quality chipmonk songs on it too if you know them tricks lol..
