Great instructional video.New to MPCs and getting my Key 37 tomorrow. I feel likes I'll be leagues ahead of putting something together vs. all the other videos I've watched. Also, thanks for only using the synths it ships with. Almost every other video is loading up Fabric, Studio Strings, Jura, etc. I know you probably have them. So props for showing and creating with what actually comes with it for someone new to MPC.
I would find leaning over the keyboard to get to everything a big pain. I don't use the plugin synths very often so I'd want that keyboard out of my way.
Hello. Thank you for the information you shared with us. I bought mpc key 37. I learn by experience. I could not run MPC Key 37 in Logic Pro on my iMac computer. Do you have any information about this? How should the connection be best?
Very good information about the MPC Key 37. I have a midi controller that works well with the pitchbend set to +/~ 24 . How can I set and save the this setting then recall it later for another session? Mostly synth bass patches. Thanks for any help you provide.🎹🎹🎹
Thank you for the video, you have made me 900 € poorer now 🙃. I still have a question: Are the projects saved as MP3? And the second question would be how can I insert vocals externally in a project.
I love your practical approach and easy-to-follow tutorial. Your video was more informative than any other I've watched on this instrument. Thank you and may God richly bless you.
The lack of an SSD plug is not the deal-breaker some folks think it is as good quality 1TB SD cards are getting pretty cheap. As for the 2GB, that is disappointing, but not a serious impediment. Would love it if Akai added a 2nd USB-A port to both the Key 37 and One+ so users wouldn't have to deal with dongle hell.
Hey man, I want to get away from fully digital daws and use hardware such as an mpc. What mpc would you recommend that i should get as a complete beginner?
Thank you for a great breakdown - I still have one question that I can't find a solution for anywhere. Can I use the pads and keyboard independently from each other? For example - thinking specifically for live performance - can I hold down a keys chord and trigger separate one shots with the drum pads?
Nice one Matthew, bought my MPC Key 37 after a couple of years struggling with the Force's workflow - already it's making more sense and your video was the perfect (re) introduction - thanks man
Looks like the buttons are same as the Mpc one let’s hope they last longer than mine, where they pushed the solder pad away from the circuit board and broke the connection. Akai uk wouldn’t do anything about it, because I’d bought it used, even though it was only 6 months old, with hardly any use. Clearly a huge design flaw.
Wow, wonder if there was something done to it to make it like that from the previous owner. I used to use my MPC One very often longer than six months and it still works fine like day one. That’s a bummer.
Oh my, finally a good review of the most interesting parts! I was interested in a workflow and now i know. Very intuitive, compared to some workstations. And the ability to download plugins on itself is a step in the right direction. And a touch screen also. Back in a day we could expect that only on top notch 3-5 grands workstations! Also what about exporting and sample bit depth? 24\48, right?
Hey really great video! I appreciate you putting it together. Can you go over when you would use the Timing Correct/ Quantize feature and how you go about it? I just started using the key 37 and I see how turning off the global TC captures my recording closer to my actual timing. However, I also see how using TC can get my rhythm closer to on time. What I don’t quite understand is the strength part. I’m sure it will take some playing around with but hoping you can shed some light. Thanks man
Great video! Can you please tell me can you play wav samples on keyboard? Can you make key mapping, stretch one wav sample all over the keyboard as some earlier models of sampler keyboards could? Best regards
I just bought (and love!) my MPC Live 2 but I love the idea of something like this even more, with the 37 keys bundled up…why should I not return my MPC Live 2, and just get this for ~$400 less?
It runs the same software in standard alone as all the other new MPCs. It just depends on what you want, it is good to have options. The live 2 has more connectivity and a battery and a speaker, so it cost a bit more.
Great review! I know it gotta be expensive as hell! Native Instruments need to do something asap, instead of manufacturing the same shit they been doing for over 10 years.
The only reason I let it go is because the Live 2 is a lot more expensive and still has 2GB. Of course it also has more inputs, outputs a hard drive bay, another USB connection and of course the speaker. They couldn't let something less expensive outshine it until the Live 3 comes out with 4GB
