Great presentation and format. Not the first instructor but one of the best I’ve seen on the subject of modern MPCs and music production. Grossly underrated channel.
Your comprehensive tutorials are some of the best I’ve seen. They truly provide a wellspring of knowledge for users of the current Akai MPCs. Akai should really make note of this channel as it’s like a complete MPC course that goes ay beyond the basica. From ducking to transient design, to getting that 12 bit sound, you have covered so many unique facets and capabilities of the MPC. Thank you so much for sharing.
What I love about these videos is they're not just about how to do it but WHY you would do it. Sometimes I watch videos on how to do something but don't know why they chose that route over the other many ways to get it done. Love how you explain the why and sometimes throw in historical context for production as well.
Hey - thank you for providing all that knowledge catered towards the MPC. I have retired my whole set of modular synths, cheap mixer and stuff and am now using the standalone MPC One since about a year and I'm really happy with it. But it was always a bit frustrating to mostly find "tutorials" of other guys playing around and also not really knowing, what they do. So thank you for all the decades of knowledge in mixing and producing to the MPC as this little machine seems quite capable of doing lots of great music. And with the right mixing and production skills this can go a long way! So I hope you keep up making videos for it!
Hi Conan as we speak I am going through your earlier vids to learn about eq and compression, great tips and I haven’t managed to get through all of your vids but I will! Thanks for another upload!
I love that technique, definitely prefer to have samples without markers. Can I suggest a video on time stretching samples and drums, many ways to achieve. Thanks again Conan...enjoy the weekend.
Good video Conan. Just wondering if it was possible to do a video on using the Roland SP-404 as an effects processor with the MPC. There are quite a few vids on but somehow they’re missing out on the using the Rec Vol from the MPC to hear the SP-404 effects coming in to the MPC. Hope that doesn’t sound too confusing. Peace
Could you possibly consider making more videos where you are producing House Beats etc?? That would be amazing and not too many people do it properly on YT. It's all BoomBap and Trap.
This was really helpful! New to the MPC after years of using the ASR-10 exclusively. The whole saving samples had me scratching my head. Sometimes I would sample something that wouldn't fit with the beat I was working on but I would want to save it for later. Now I can have a folder for spare parts and come back to it 👍
Hey! Do you think you could do a tutorial on flex beat?? Been eyeing it for a while and not sure if I should pull the trigger. Thanks for all the info!
Hey buddy. I haven't actually had a chance to play around with it yet properly. I didn't want to do one of those "Day of release, I don't really know what I am doing with this plugin" videos haha. Hopefully I will get some time to sit down with it next week. Thanks for watching dude.
@@TheCratesMotel Every single video I have watched so far has been somebody trying to get views who has no idea how to use the plugin at all. No names mnetioned of course.
@@beatsandsamples Haha yeh I think some creators like to get their video out first on a particular subject or plugin. I just prefer to know how it works first, most of the time, and offer something constructive other than a "it's amazing" or "it's crap" video. It takes me more than ten minutes to decide lol
Would you recommend the MPC Live 1, or the MPC One for an MPC newcomer? I have knowledge of Logic, Maschine and a couple hardware synths. Considering moving my workflow to MPC but don't know if the Live 1 or the One would be best for a newb. Is the additional MIDI port and on board battery a worthy reason to go for the Live 1? Cheers.
Hey. To be honest there’s no right or wrong answer here. They’re both amazing pieces of kit. If I had to choose, I’d choose the One personally. I don’t go mobile with my MPC and I rarely use MIDI. However, I do own a Live 2 and I love it. But the One definitely gets more use in the studio.
How do you export stems with effects on ? I recently finished my first full track and wanted to hear what the difference would be if I send it to a professional to mix and master, after exporting the stems I noticed there's no effects on the stems Inc the send and returns. Am I missing something or does the MPC just not do this? Any help on this would be great....
Hey buddy, I hve actually made a video for this ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9o9MsuWAvmg.html It explains how to export dry or wet stems
Question: Why is there even a "save sample" option next to "save program"? After you press "save program" it brings up the menu with all the options (create new folder, where you want to save etc) but if you press "save sample" is it actually saving the sample somewhere?
It's a great question. I don't usually use the Save Sample option myself, but I guess it is useful if you want to just save a sample to an SD card and move it to another unit or to a computer etc
Yes there is. I do it the other way around, with S1 as my master and my MPC as the slave, but only to start and stop the MPC. I can still program in the MPC standalone, but I can also start it when I start S1. It is not really something I can explain in a short comment though. I will be doing a video on this in the next few weeks as I have had multiple requests. There is a basic outline on page 347 of the latest Akai MPC manual.
