Bought the minilab 3 and no its not the same price as the mpk3. Mpk3 was $98.00 CAD while the minilab 3 was $170.00 CAD. But the minilab tho and i rarely spend that much on one thing but minilab allows you to connect it to physical synthesizers which is a plus so no pc needed if you jave a synthesizer which gives me a reason now to buy those cool looking synths if i can play the minilab since ive never made music but my friend who makes music is bugging me to start a band with him telling me to just try it so i decided to try a midi keyboard first
I would prefer the mpk if they fixed the pitch bend issue. Smaller size is nice, and I like the chunky pads. Arturia is the better keyboard with better integration, and also it would be the massive hands down winner if they took the ribbon space and made a good XY ribbon. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hvAwQqfbgCs.htmlsi=LpzL1I8N2O3kD586
@@sixtenradl7141 I'm glad I know akai makes those, I was thinking about getting one. NOT ANYMORE. Akai and Alesis make some of the most ass music equipment to ever be conceived
@@MrMissingReelas a proud owner of the mpc live ii, dawg..... the knobs/toggle wheel alone are super cheap feeling. My main toggle wheel doesn't even sit tightly in it's home. I could turn my unit upside, give it a little shake, and the knob will pop out. It's not a problem for everyone but I know others have had the same issue. The shell of the unit also feels like it's not secured very tightly, almost feels like it's missing screws on the sides but there's no screw holes from what I can see. I have an older unit and have heard that quality control has improved in recent times but even these more expensive units have flaws. I obviously love my Mpc live ii though and have no desire to replace it. Just wish it had came sturdier out of the box.
@@MrMissingReelall respect though. I assume your experience with quality control is probably better than mine but I wanted to make sure people are aware that it may have flaws to look into as well (I assume most people are getting overall sturdy units tbough)
If its terrible midi why would people buy n use it? Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it terrible. Ive seen so many people making quality beats with mpk mini n im using it myself. Its quite good.
The only thing that matters to me is the fact that the minilab keys feel like REAL PIANO KEYS! So you can be as soft or aggressive as you want… the mpc keys feel like a toy in comparison
the only god tier thing about mpk is that every single bedroom producer has one, its not bad, its pretty good, but these days there are better options for the same price, and minilab 3 is one of those
Having read reviews and numbers on both: MPK Mini 3 is far more popular than Arturia, 10 to 1 in sales. Better pads, smaller keys and smaller footprint are the preference. Yet, some prefer the Arturia; I may buy it for the larger keys.
Akai is horrible. Sent it back immediately. Novation was a nightmare. I updated the product upgrade, and it damaged my usb port. Minilab3, so far, has been the best mini keyboard i purchased
I bought the mpk and honestly it feels and works way better than what you are claiming maybe you just got a bad build but I also use Ableton live so maybe it’s a daw difference
Gear Buying Opinion/Advice: 1. Set a budget. 2. Go somewhere to try out gear (within that budget) IRL to get a physical feel. 3. Buy the gear that satisfies the greatest number of your requirements. ("I just like its vibe" COMPLETELY counts!)
Thousands of artists are happy with the MPK and produce remarkable work with it. you complain about it, you're exactly the kind of person where the guitar is always "bad" instead of accepting that "your playing" is bad. 🙈
I own it, for most sounds, the keys are just bad. Very hard to control dynamics, small but light so you have to actively practice on it to be able to play it precisely, and the two octaves are more limiting than you'd think. Ironically, for playing drum parts I actually prefer the keys most of the time, they feel better than the pads (which does not speak very well for the pads) It has never communicated with the DAW, like for basic things like tempo, I have never been able to get it to sync automatically, but maybe thats me. I can't speak for the knobs cause I just never used them. The pitch band and expression joystick(?) is the dumbest thing I have ever used. It's cool that you can control the two parameters together, and with the right sound programmed I'm sure it could make some really cool things, but that also never find myself using it cause it's not comfortable to use considering where it's placed and the very small range of motion it has. The arpeggiator is very cool, I use it frequently and I've noticed that it's not consistent, like in tim. if you zoom in I've noticed it has some "analog" imperfections in it, rhythm wise, but that has always been something I digged. All things considered, it comes with some drum sounds and its own software which I never used, but mine came also with some plugins (Mini Grand, Hybrid, Velvet) which I use all the time, so I guess it was worth it. If it wasn't for them, I would probably get an arturia if I were to go back in time.
And also Akai is liars my key has been broken and they said that it’s my fault. And didn’t repair it. And for replacing they don’t even sell the repair kits. Which would be easy to change the keys by myself.
Speak 4 yourself... everything not fruity loops To me it's all about the trigger and on MPC program that MPK 3 got MUSCLE.... THEN I LEARNED TO JUST RECORD THE PRODUCTION N MIX DOWN ON FRUITY LOOPS.... PERIOD (NICE TRY BUT IM NOT BUYING NO MORE MIDI CONTROLLER KEYBOARD UNTIL CAME I ACROSS AKAI MPK3) 🧐🤣🧐🤣🧐🤣🧐🤣🧐🤣🧐🤣🧐🤣
The lpk 25 is the only practical and affordable midi IMO. It’s all you need to make beats, and the keys feel like a real piano. Anything other than that is just a waste of money tbh
I really like my mpk mini, but that's so true (except for the "looks cheap" thing) the keys on this thing feel so much worse. really think about changing it for one of these
