I've owned one of these for 40 years. Fun old heap to play with, great operational clanks, and the "zeeeep" of the brakes is priceless. The Revset mechanism makes the machine auto-reverse at the desired points without using foil, although this model can also work with foil. The manual is easy enough to find --- read it!
Thanks for posting this Patrick. I just picked one up today {$50} flea market grab. 7 1/2 is slow. Appears capstan is loosing some gusto under the pinch roller pressure. It may be a tad slow at 3 3/4 as well. Going to open her up and see whats going on. Capstan belt? Thanks again, David in Tx.
Hello. Would you be interested in repairing an X330D for me? Mine also doesn't record on one channel, and intermittently will only playback one channel in the reverse direction.
hello I'm from Chile, I have the akai x330 machine, I only record 1 channel, clean the selector switch contact, clean the relay, change the position platelets and if recording 1 channel
Sir ... I need your help.please help me out. I have the x330 version. tried replacing the transistors with 1845 .and 2240 ..and they dont work. it has the old style 458 with flat back. neither ECB nor BCE works. old 458 according to data sheet is BCE original playback and recording transistors has different symbols . put back those and they work...but very distorted.
You are talking Base Collector Emitter. That is just placement of junctions. You need to know if it is PNP or NPN transistor. Also if it is Germanium or Silicon.
