Use hot water( it is the secret of soft roti), if you don't want to spoil your nails try using a cake mixing spoon. The last one, make roti on butter paper and place it on tawa(the roti side should be on tawa) after 1 minute you can differentiate roti and butter sheet easily. I could see your efforts... Appreciable So gave you some tips..

For rice flour you should add worm water and should pase green chilli and salt

No ...we do it in a same way...only the thing is..may be nivi has cooked it in low flame for too long so it became hard and also first roti usually does not cook properly if the tawa is not properly heated
