Today, I did a talk online with Foundry United Methodist Church in Washington DC. In order to explain African spirituality through music, I selected this video as part of my message. I shared the first 3 minutes of the video. What was more puzzling and exciting is how it all started with no music, but an incantation, I love the Notice that interrupted the chant to say "This is normal in Nigeria, give it a minute" , made people laugh because I explained that Yoruba spirituality is not for people in a rush. Then when the young man and Yetunde Inherited crossed the room to pick up their musical instruments, albeit "pills bottle and tea cup/spoon". That moment made my audience gasp with joy and laughter. I explained that we can make melodious music to God even when there are no instruments. Our hands, our feet, our voices, just about anything can be used to make melodious noise in praise to God. Once again thanks for enriching my life, my spiritual journey and expression and that of others. Keep up the good work.
