In the Mahabharata, Ashwathama could not kill the child of Abhimanyu and Uttara. He who was born and ruled as Parikshit but Ashwathama was punished by Shri Krishna for killing the other children.

These are stories very very old and there is no end to these stories because everyone will die at some point of time and every generation will think this is kalyuk or start of kalyug but there is no final battle its is interesting i do love both Ramayan and Mahabharata

I think basically it's like a game of chess where the same characters are needed everytime a new yug begins, same goes for Satyayug, Tretayug, Dvaparayug, and Kalyug. And coming to weather Sri Ram, Sri Krishna will be there or not, yes they will be there but they could be someone different than the prev cycle but what remains the same is the goal why they incarnated on earth. May be I am wrong but this is what I think.
I think a few key events would remain the same and few things might change, but the end result would remain the same. Like maybe karna would fight with Pandavas and Arjuna might be best friend of duryodhana. Or maybe Kauravas would be on the side of dharma and would defeat Pandavas who were on the side of adharma. Or maybe ashwatthama and krishna would fight together like hanuman and Rama. I think there was a story about a crow named kakbhushandi who said that he saw ramayan 11 times and Mahabharata 16 times with different results
