They did catering for my sister’s wedding back in 2012. People went crazy with the food. My friends still tell me the Gondhoraj chicken they had that day was one of the best they ever had.
Odhisha was part of Bengal only till 1912, hence the food culture is bound to be similar once the provinces got divided adding to a bit of their own individualities. Hence the age old dishes of mutton koshas, rosogollas(there should ideally be nothing called as rosogola, its an insult to the legendary desert), etc carries its origin from the undivided Bengal only. And as far as mutton kosha goes, its inherited from raiway mutton curry finding its root into Bengal via Nawab Wajid Ali Shah. So Akshay, would suggest you to do a better reasearch please🙂

Roshogolla was first made in Bengal. The Europeans brought with them the technique of making cottage cheese or Chhana and the Bengali artisans started making sweets with them, more specifically Nobin Chandra Das dipped Chhana balls in sugar syrup and made roshogolla. Chhana sweets were not known to Indians we made sweets with khoya or kheer and that's why you will see even today Chhana sweets are not offered to gods in most of india. Odisha tried to claim the rights of roshogolla by showing that it was served to Jagannath but that sweet was also made of khoya or kheer, even the name is kheermohan and not roshogolla. Just because kheermohan is round and sweet it doesn't become roshogolla! It's a new strategy, trying to claim ownership of all traditional Bengali dishes. Now we get to hear Kosha mangsho. All states will have some goat prep, all slightly different. I have had mutton curry in multiple places in Odisha they are all good and tastes really nice with soru chakori ( we call soru chakli in Bengal) but that's nothing like Kosha mangsho. Odish should stop just claiming and stealing and for once make or invent something new and then try to put their name on it. Next they might even say burgers were invented in Odisha as some shop in sambalpur sells a McD copy.
The way you have written Saru Chakuli as Soru Chakori speaks a lot about your knowledge about Odia cuisine. Talking about invention in cuisine, I sincerely request you to visit Odisha again and have some authentic Odia dishes. The number of things made out of only lentils can outnumber your entire cuisine. So stop talking about copying or stealing and try some genuine dishes first.

Listen, even that sori chakuli is from bengal, that mutton is from bengal. The only innovation that I already gave credit to the Ureys for is eating Mutton with soru chakli. I have traveled extensively in Urishya and yeah Urey cooks are very good and they work in a lot of restaurants in Kolkata and Hyderabad. In Kolkata almost all households would employ a Urey Bamun who used to cook. They needed some tutoring but they did a good job no doubt. Your entire Uriya Cuisine was INVENTED on Wikipedia over the last 10 years, OK? Also seriously, both your sense of exaggeration and pride in the "cooked up" number of lentil dishes is hilarious! Be happy with that. Or may be create a chart, write all your lentil dishes on one side and all the Bengali dishes on the other, and see how it goes! You are welcome to include all the bad oversalted undersalted burnt and kachcha daals you had as a kid :P First, learn to eat properly then talk about cooking, ok? I can feel kanishk....being a vegetarian going out for meal in kolkata is seriously damn hard..... i am bengali n in my entire hard core non-veg lover joint family i am the only one who is vegetarian..... n trust me i really get disappointed by seeing such fancy looking non veg dishes.....because we dont get such fancier dishes in veg...😬😬 but thankfully i brought up in delhi n here is huge variety of veg also....i love my hometown kolkata more than delhi...but when it comes to food i think north indian dishes are the yummiest for we vegetarians 😉
Bengali food doesn't skimp on the vegetarian fare at all. It's just as extensive as the non-veg fare. Dishes like dhokar dalna (lentil cake stew), the various posto (poppy seed) dishes, labra (vegetable medley), khichuri, begun pora (roasted eggplant) and so much more. Bengali food reveres flora and fauna both.

I would like to tell zomato to visit every bengali food corner cum restaurants of the West Bengal, kolkata.... You will find individual specialities in every restaurants.... I would recommend --- 'Himur Hensel', 'Bhooter Raja dilo Bor and Saptapadi... Do visit these places
Zomato must be boycotted in Bengal. They are trying to subtly steal roshogolla and kosha mangsho from Bengal and hand it over to Odisha! This isn't simply some ignorant youtuber saying nonsense we could have ignored that. Zomato is a corporate with vested interest in creating such lafdas just to make their legends program popular. It's time Banglapokkho takes a notice of this!
Who cares where it originated just eat & enjoy when you are in Bengal enjoy Bengali rasgulla and meat when you are in Odisha enjoy Odisha's rasgulla & meat I am from odisha so I only had our recipe when I visit Bengal definately I would enjoy it
Kosha mangsho is neither originated in Kolkata nor in Odisha..It’s an authentic Bengali recipe of BANGAL (people rooted to undivided Bengal/Bangladesh)❤️
I completely agree ki bengal has delicious food using mustard paste but do try some odia dishes which are made with the same mustard paste mustard as a base of the masalaa you will be blown away... and I LOVE YOU KANISHK😘 sorry akshay😛
यदि आप शुद्ध शाकाहारी हैं और Zomato से खाना मंगवाते हैं तो क्या आप जानते हैं ? Zomato एक ही delivery boy से एक ही bag में veg/non veg दोनों की delivery करवाता है, घटिया रेस्टोरेंट पैकिंग के कारण बेग के अंदर non veg गिरता है, उसी में veg order भी deliver किए जाते हैं।
Last day I ordered from zomato and it was 2 chicken burger but they instead they send me a veg burger and a chicken burger charged me the price of two chicken burger I initiated a dialogue with customer care and they asked me to write a mail and Zomato is unwilling to refund me despite having evidence of the issue I have been a customer of zomato for a long time while and this is how they treat their customer , zomato need to work on the customers issues , as a customer I lost trust with the brand
The debate between Bengal and odhisa is same as India and Pakistan Pakistan claims something is from their history which is actually Indias history Same with Bengal Bengal is the father of odisha 😉
