A brief history of the Ɔbɔman kyew/Ntakrakye of Adukrom Okere and how it was acquired
"The Ntakrakyew, also known as "Ɔbɔman kyew" or "Kamkam Awoso", is a sacred hat created by Okomfo Anokye for Otumfuo Osei Tutu. This powerful war spirit was worn by the kings as they led their people into battle, signifying strength and protection. The hat's creation is steeped in history and symbolism, with Okomfo Anokye using elephant bones, eagle feathers, tiger tail, golden knots, horns, and a vulture's head to craft it.
In 1826, during the Akatamanso war, Okuapemhene Nana Addow Dankwa I bravely captured the Ntakrakyew from the Ashantis. Later, in 1866, after the Awunasa war, Nana Kwadade (Okuapemhene) honored Nana Opare Ababio (Nifahene) by gifting him the Ntakrakyew.
This revered symbol of power and courage is treated with great respect and care, with restrictions on who can wear it and how it's handled. Its significance is a testament to the rich cultural heritage of the Akuapem people."

Are you ppl not in ghana? In 2024 Otumfour celebrated Odwira. For those of you who don't know the history, odwira in Asante is not celebrated any how but once in a while. Okomfo Anokye also instituted Akwasidae to unite the people. Is Akwasidae that is celebrated every month.

And it's because of the Akuapim people that the ashantis say " wokum apim aa apim bɛba" & next time ask abusuapanyin how the name Adukrom came about because i 1s heard someone say it was aduro krom because it use to be a place where people came for help & solutions to their problems due to the powers & energies around that time. How true is that?

The Katamanso was a British-Dutch-Ashanti war in which the British had superior firepower. All the tribes that fought against the Ashantis had requested British protection, which has been documented. This is why Akuapem was a state in the British colony of Gold Coast. All the tribes that fought alongside the British want credit for the defeat of the Ashantis, but it has been given to the British because they were the main architects of the war. These people never thought prosperity would judge them. Now, they are claiming a victory that is not theirs through mythical folklore. As a young fighter, I prefer to battle by myself so that I can enjoy my victory, and I also accept my defeat-no mythical folklore.

This man has no idea of what he is talking about, Otumfuo Opoku War II celebrated Odwira several times. Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Nyamekese Opemsuo hasn't celebrated Odwira yet because there was a chieftaincy issue in Asumenya, Pampaso, and some other towns that needs to play a keyl role of the Odwira festival. Akatamanso war was fought by over 20 countries and tribes including the British, against Asante, so it's very cowardly of this man to boost himself with such a war. You were asked specifically to talk about Akuapem's history, not Asante history. But it seems you have no clue about your own history and culture, so instead you'll drag Asante along, you see why Asante is always superior?

It’s interesting how different historical materials refer the victory of the Katamanso war to different faction. I’ve read it was an Anglo-Danish-Dutch victory. Elsewhere too posits that the people of Accra won the war Some folks also insist the Krobos were the victors Today too I’m being told it’s the akuapems. No wonder Thomas Edward Bowdich posited that in the quest of telling the history of Ghana, you end up telling the Asante history. Interesting!! But I thought MacCarthy was succeeded by Charles Turner, ask ebusuapanyin to recheck that account.

Hmmm funny history, the Akataman war was not fought against the Akwapim alone. It's was comprise of all the coastal tribes the Adanbges, krobo, Akyem, Akwapim, Ga, fantes, the British, Houses, Yorubas, Serro Leone, Jamaicans to fight the Ashantis. Please tell the history properly.
