To be fair, akuma almost plays identically to ryu and has very similar buttons. Outside of niche frame data and setups, the game plan remains the same.
@@redeyeddragontb2567 his combo routes are very similar, and the only real difference in their game plan is utilizing demon flip. You still have an amazing heavy punch to stuff your opponent, and his fireball game is better than ryu’s meaning you can zone the same way. All of their supers more or less act identically. You can pretty much play them the same way and still be incredibly effective.
@@calebcanning318 their combo routes are not similar. Ryus usual high damage punish combo is HK -> HP drive rush cancel -> HK -> HP DRC -> HK -> HP -> DP Level 3 Akumas is heavy adament flame -> C.HP drive rush cancel (DRC) -> F.HP -> C.HP and then whatever other combo routes, like the same DRC or into level 2 for wall splat, akumas usual combo for a strike throw mix up or safe jump is also completely different to ryus aswell, akuma has demon flip and air fireball for different setups and ryu doesnt, im a master rank ryu and akuma, they do not play similarly at all i think ur lack of game knowledge probably makes u believe they are when they arent.
It's cool that you're trying Akuma out. I hope to spar with you or learn from you. Also, the combos into low DP into level 3 has the most damage than Heavy DP.
Im surprised no one in your chat told you (or maybe you just missed it) but a lot of those light tatsu combos dropped because they were crouching. Akuma’s st mk restands the opponent so any tatsu combo after will connect. Also cr hp does 100 more damage than st hp which. And finally starting your drive rush combos into fwd hp into cr hp does more damage than combos that start with st hk because the multiple hits scales the combos more. Sorry for the long post but your fundamentals are already really good so it doesn’t matter much. But these are the combos I would recommend to new players learning Akuma.
While cool and impressive to watch, I feel like your video just exposed everything I don't like about this game. Too much your turn my turn, lack of neutral, and a weird ranking system. For me, it's a fun game to watch but not fun to play (not anymore at least).
@@chilledchupacabra5317every fighting game is like that. But that's also a lie, you have deffensive options, people act like the only thing they can do when they are -1 is to hold down back
@@chilledchupacabra5317 that every fighting game is "your turn my turn" thats rather a much more simplistic way of seeing things. Like I said, makes it seem like the only thing you can do on deffense is hold down back
@@chilledchupacabra5317 just in sfv you had all the usual suspects, walking back on deffence, jabbing, reversal dp, reversal super, holding up, delay teching, idk... and by the end of the game you had v-reversal and v-shift also. In sf6 you have a lot of deffensive options because the offense is so great, os reversal dp, reversal supers now can be done with just 1 bar, you've got parries, v-reversal, even v-reversal on wake up and if you go for hard reads you can drive impact to take your turn back and deal a gazillion damage. People complain but they have more deffensive options than ever, just mix them up and you'll be ok
I mean how many hours do you have as high level master? Or hours in sf6 in general? You also said you’ve fought against Gief for 8 years. You have tons of experience and have 1000+ hours into this game daily; of course you’ll hit master quick. It would be odd if you didn’t. For those of us who are newer it is nowhere near this ‘easy’. Many streamers and RU-vidrs get a character to master quickly like this because they have so many hours and already play at the highest level. So yes, it’s easy for streamers, RU-vidrs, and people who have been in the fgc for a while now.
While he mentions it was easy for him, the point was that people focus on combos too much in the early ranks, and not enough developing their fundamentals
I was an akuma main and i got to platinum 4 right before terry came out obviously i was going to play terry a lil bit but now ive dropped akuma because terry isnt as OP and when you win its actually because you have to outplay your opponent instead of abusing top tier
