Munfu throwing out all the shade, "In this house we don't waste anything, she better swallow", meanwhile Bitty throwing Dagger eyes with "Don't joke about that, they'll think you're serious"... 😸😆
Fun Fact: Marcie(Amanda Bearse) actually wrote 85% of the jokes between Al and herself, including Al's jokes towards herself. Both Amanda Bearse and Ed O'neil(Al) did not like each other in real life.
Married with children started in the 80s and ended in the 90s. It was one of fox's 1st shows. Eventually they aired it with Simpsons and Living Color. Sundays rocked.
ed o'neil (al bundy) is a multi-degree black belt in tae kwon do, and he had a tryout with the pittsburgh steelers in the early 70s. he's far more of an athlete than most people realize. a good vid to react to is "al bundy's best fights". also worth pointing out is the fact that he and the actress who played marcie the neighbor, couldnt stand each other in real life. when theyre insulting each other, they mean every word of it.
Dodge was big back then dont get the show wrong. It is just that Als car was old and a junker supposedly. But it also worked for so long that the odometer reset to all 0s in one episode where they were offering him a vDodge Viper in exchange for letting them film the odometer reseting. So they claimed it was a hunk of junk but I dont know many junkers that will work that long
A couple things about this show. It was hilarious because the gave no f's about political correctness in the 80s. Jokes were jokes for the sake of humor. Also, at that time, the Fox network was brand new! Married...with children and the simpsons made that network a thing! I'm in my 40s and remember seeing it for the first time like "did they just say that?" Shows like this could not be made today!
Loved watching this as a kid. Back when there was "Regular leaded" gas for 35 cents/gal. I remember when dad got heated when gas went up to 50 cents/gal.
I started rewatching married with children a while back and it's funny as fuck. When I was a kid I used to think Al was am asshole but seeing it now with my adult mind, his family is a piece of shit. They treat him like a mop in a bucket 🪣
This show was a classic for a reason. $2 even when the show was on the air wasn't that much. Maybe 2 gallons, so it was part of the joke. They making a big deal about getting full service and being annoying because there's a surcharge, but getting almost nothing. Btw, a lot of those early black sitcoms were on Fox and this show also was on Fox.
I’m old enough to remember gas was $0.89 cents per gallon, and even with it being just over a dollar fairly often, I could fill both tanks on my F150 for about $30
From what I remember hearing, she wasn't responsible for writing most of the episodes; she was responsible for directing a lot of the episodes in the later seasons, which is why some of the episodes in the later seasons weren't that good.... her and Al Bundy didn't get along offset because she was jealous he got too much attention
One episode that you have to see, in its entirety, is 'Her Cups Runneth Over'. It's the episode that caused a housewife in Michigan to complain to the network.
The dysfunction in this family. I enjoyed watching so much. Having said that, it does not top the dysfunction in mine lol It was like seeing your own family on t. V. Except Al bunday was a loving supportive father and Peggy took care of being a mom. ♡
They certainly had a strained relationship but "hate" would be too strong a word for it. I guess you could say they "hated" each other in the way that some people (myself included) "hate" pineapple on pizza, lol.
15:20 dude you just explained a lot of what you missed. this show and seinfeld probably was before your childhood but they were one of the greatest shows ever.
@@Triple-Four no it wasn't. it had great episodes. it was sometimes for a niche group like new york jewish people but most of the time it was good enough to even reach me, an ordinary kid from 6000 miles away in a non-english speaking country.
Cool! Please play some more of "Married with Children" and also "All in the Family" and "Archie Bunker's Place", please. Thank you so very much. Have a Blessed Day. Adios.
People always say they could never make this now. Dude, they would've said the same thing 40 years ago. The only reason it did get made is because Fox was brand new and TRYING to be the rebel, renegade network. ABC, CBS, or NBC _never_ would've greenlit this in the 80s. And honestly, the conditions for a show LIKE THIS coming along are the same as they were back then: in the 80s TV had become bland and sterile after pushing a lot more boundaries in the 70s. The more uptight society becomes, the greater the counter force that will emerge to challenge it. An equal but opposite reaction. Newton's third law of humor. 😁
There’s some good in a lot of the white shows (probably best curated for the best moments) Characters like Joey from friends. I grew up in the mountains and we got basically 4 channels, News, Sports, NBC and ABC until about 1998 when we finally got fox lol. When i did get around to seeing Married with Children, I found myself relating a little too hard. life’s rough on a budget.
If you like Married with Children and haven't seen any other sitcoms from that time: check out Roseanne. It's about another working poor family that's brash and sarcastic. Just as relatable as this one is for anyone that grew up without a lot of money.
Living in Scandinavia, chopping wood is just a thing you need to learn how to do. Doing it shirtless plys into the whole "rugged forest man that lives alone" Trope of romantic comey that women love.
On the downside though I was a literal child and looked and Kelly as a role model. I remember being well under 10… probably more like 7, and taking my dads mousse and trying so hard to make my hair look like hers 😂
The creator of this show also wrote for The Jeffersons. And you can really see the same back and forth of characters slinging insults to on another in both shows.
Al Bundy is America, this man should be President. do you think we can convince Ed O'Neil to do it? It would be so much better than the Trump nightmare were facing right now
The way My grandmother would steal shit anywhere she went..... Salt shakers, silverware pitchers Like for liquids, vases, blankets and things from the hospital. Towels, it was something else that woman. I remember she slipped and fell once outside of the restaurant. Her bag clattering on the sidewalk. Thank God nothing fell out. Guy holding the door ran over, helped her up giving her her bag. No shame!
One of my favorite shows when it comes to TV dad there's only three that remain reign supreme because they were they are somebody that you know in your family and you can relate to Al Bundy would be number one number two would be Uncle Phil number three my boy Carl Winslow from my three favorite sitcoms these men are someone you can relate to that had legit jobs fantasized you know and it sucks because nowadays you cannot do this on married with children they would have been canceled so bad cuz everybody's so damn sensitive now what else says and does he cannot do this now on TV no way lol😂
The actress that plays Marcy (neighbor) actually tried to get Ed (Al) fired from the show because she became super liberal and ultra feminist - and is a lesbian - and bumped heads with him all the time because of her newfound views.
