Recorded in the Theater on the Mariner of the Seas during Cruise to the Edge 2022.
I've never been a HUGE fan, but he's always been on my radar. In the 80's I had the Elegant Gypsy album on vinyl, and I was blown away by Mediterranean Sunset! I really enjoyed this performance, and his stories! (No, I didn't record the other performance)
If anyone has an issue with this being available, please let me know!
Tuesday May 3rd 2022 while on our way from Port Canaveral to Labadee (Haiti).
I am NOT a professional. I recorded these shows because I am a fan of the music and want to help the bands gain popularity. Not everyone can afford to be on these cruises. But that doesn't mean we can't spread the enjoyment beyond the ship!

I started out filing both Al, and the percussionist. Afterwards, I changed my mind and focussed more on just Al.
I didn't do any close-ups because
#1: when zoomed in on something/someone, you may miss something else going on on stage.
#2: it would require more attention to the camera. I wanted to enjoy the show

Great video. Thank you for uploading. I also saw the 1990 World Sinfonia tour, it was awesome. Al is best acoustically in small venues, and man does he kill it.

No he is not. Man was sharp as a knife in his 30s. Just listen bak to the Tour de Force live album, and compare it with his most recent performance on the electric guitar. I don't mean to disrepect, he is an absolute legend, but he might need to practice a bit more and rehearse a bit more thoroughly...

Thank you so much!!! Been a fan since the 70s. Got to see him tour his first solo album. He opened for Santana. Got to see the World Sinfonia a few times and finally Return to Forever in 2008. I am fortunate. Just found out he is playing here in Rhode Island in September. Hope tix don’t sell out too quick. It is a small venue.

@38:15 - ok, you uploaded Stu Hamm doing Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, now Al DiMeola is doing Strawberry Fields. Interesting all these old legends playing tributes to all their own heroes. Al does some Chick Corea in this set too. I am not a huge Al DiMeola fan, but I saw his acoustic set around 1990 with two percussionists (Gumbi Ortiz and Arto ... some Turkish name I can’t remember), and occasional acoustic guitar from Chris Carrington, and that acoustic show was hypnotic. Mesmerizing. Hands down one of my favorite concerts ever. Al is far more chatty here, but always flawless playing from this master. Thank you again for uploading these music cruise videos for us desert dwelling land lubbers.

You're welcome. It's people like you that I record these for. I too was hoping he'd do some electric guitar. I've never been a HUGE Al Di Meola fan, but was excited and happy to have seen him just the same! I enjoyed his stories!

I've been to concerts of *many* great musicians and pretty much everybody covers the Beatles. I had the privilege to see Israeli singer Noa cover Drive My Car, Pat Metheny do And I Love Her, prog band Marillion do You've Got To Hide Your Love Away, Sting do both Penny Lane and A Day In The Life at the same concert, Herbie Hancock do Norwegian Wood, TOTO do the whole Sgt. Pepper album (except She's Leaving Home), Marcus Miller do Come Together, Paul Gilbert do Love Me Do, indeed Al DiMeola quote Day Tripper during a Rite Of Strings performance with Stanley Clarke and Jean-Luc Ponty, and the list of course goes on and on. You just can't beat the Fab Four, no matter who you are. PS: The name of that great percussionist is Arto Tunçboyacıyan by the way. I saw him play with Joe Zawinul, amazing liveshow.
