I've read a couple of Al's books. In both books he mentions what a fucking joke of a journalist Bill is.

You didn't mention that Inside Edition won the Polk _after_ O'Reilly left, making it even more pathetic that he took credit. Franken gets to that eventually.

I loved "Lies And The Lying Liars Who Tell Them". Anybody who calls righties liars on Fox News or on talk radio never gets heard over the screaming. But put on paper, calling them out lasts forever.

Reason why his ratings and career haven't been negatively impacted? Because the people that watch his show aren't exactly the most decent you'll ever come across. One would actually say that they're horrible people. I like to imagine angry old men throwing remotes at the tv whenever O'Reilly entertains us with his ridiculous, yearly _War on Christmas_ segment.

O'Reilly's body language is hilarious when he had to listen to Franken tell his story. "Cut his mike, CUT HIS MIKE!"

Remember when Fox wanted to sue Franken for using the phrase "Fair and balanced"? The funny part is that they actually helped Franken publicize his book. Fox is apparently unfamiliar with the 'Streisand effect'.

There's something to this whole story that Sam doesn't mention, and not even Al addressed this in his book. I picked this up the last time I watched that whole video of the BookExpo panel. Al's telling of this Peabody story wasn't an "attack," and it wasn't even gratuitous. It was in direct response to Bill's "calling out" of Al in _his_ speech, which he made before. He'd said "I want to elevate the discourse....I don't call people 'big fat idiots'" (referring to the title of Al's book _Rush Limbaugh Is a Big Fat Idiot and Other Observations_), and "If you're going to call me a liar, you'd better have something" (at the BookExpo, the cover of Al's book _Lying Liars_ had been blown up and put on display, and Bill's face was on that cover -- so Bill was pissed off). In effect, Bill was accusing Al of making ad hominem attacks and calling him a liar with nothing to back it up. And that's the reason Al told the Peabody story.

Air America is defunct .... Yet, O'Reilly goes marching on . Why ?

I had a friend who would lie all the time. We all knew he lied but never bothered saying anything because they were too funny. That was until one day we realized he actually believed his own lies. Good job guys, I remembered this incident about a week ago when this Bill-O-(the clown) first started defending his statements.

Dude I really like watching Bill O'liar get it from Al Franken but you constantly interrupting kinda sucks. It would have been much better if you would stop talking to us like we are dumb and explaining everything and let us watch it then comment at the end. Just some constructive criticism.

I just find it funny how the left keeps calling Bill a journalist. He does some journalism, but his show is mostly opinionated analyst of current events. In fact most shows on Fox are right leaning analyst of current events. There is in fact very little news coverage outside of the stories each host chooses to cover. As for Bill's lies. He has shown proof on the air that he was in Falkland. This could be written off as a mistake. The only thing that seems to be a flat out lie that has come up recently is him claiming he was outside when Oswald's friend killed himself.
