Memory Lane - Husband and I were on a cruise to Bermuda, and I sang this to him karoke. He passed 11 years ago and I am 85 years young. I miss him terribly, but I have my memories. Jesus is Love
Cool your jets. Green is fabulous, a truly great and enduring singer. How does that require you trashing other singers? Enjoy Al Green. Enjoy the others. You will be glad that you did.
@@johnlomax303 Are you a complete fkn idiot? This is pure TALENT, other singers today have to rely on a “Earpiece” “Special Effects”, homeboy here is just singin his heart out with primitive technology, just by the way he drags his voice without using any effects is Touching, all i see is a microphone & loud speakers, rather then today you got computers & a tall stand with up to 200+ plug’ins to perfeccctt the way a person sounds, nobody is trashing anyone but only a real human being can tell which style is SUPERIOR
No background vocalists to harmonize or help correct pitch, just a man with a band behind him whose sole purpose right here is to accentuate and amplify his voice. Completely alone and open to all of the imperfections of a live performance and he fucking nailed it. This is one of the most impressive live vocal performances I’ve ever seen.
Al Green is literally still making music. So his music is great and lacking at the same time? Your comment makes zero sense and even if he wasn't around anymore, you just have to look to find music in similar style...
Only to think that back in the 70s I was a great fan of synthesised music. Vangelis, Tangerine Dream, Kraftwerk, Jean-Michel Jarre..................... I still love it of course but how can I resist the great artist of the past and their masterpieces?
I was just trying to descibe to a much younger friend what "soul music" is. This is the first song that came to mind and I just sent her. It's the perfect example. And I don't think I ever saw this live performance before. Holy Crap is it good!
My best friend's Dad who was terminally ill with cancer had this song at his good bye party. That was 10 years ago and when I hear this song I can picture him dancing with his wife with his arms around her. Glad I could share this memory with you
@@smarroy Settle down, Karen. I'm not sure which one of us you were referring to, so I'll assume you were directing your idiocy at me. First of all, NONE of us suggested that "the new generation is trash" - that is what YOU read. Secondly, I personally have been involved with music since the early 1970s and enjoy every genre of music from Bluegrass to Death Metal and everything in between. You sound like a whiney little 20-something year old who just got his feelings hurt because someone said something bad about Miley Cyrus or Eminem. Grow up. Music is subjective. My point was merely that back when Al Green, and others during his era recorded their music, there was no such thing as "autotune" and similar things that make crappy people sound amazing. My favorite music spans dozens of generations. I LOVE classical, big band, ragtime, jazz, dixieland, funk, and many many more. I doubt you can say the same.
He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame almost TWENTY FIVE years ago and Rolling Stone ranks him #14 on the greatest singers of all time list. How does he not get credit?
There will never be anyone to touch Al's vocals ! Not now, not then, not ever ! I've been a fan for 40yrs ! I listen to him everyday too. You have great taste in music .
Happy 76th Birthday today April 13, 2022 to the great Al Green, born April 13, 1946. Al Green is one of the most enduring soul singers of the rock era, and is considered by many the most important male singer since Sam Cooke. He has also been referred to as "The Last of the Great Soul Singers." His early 70s work on Hi Records sounds as good today as it did then, and his legend has continued to grow over the past quarter century even as he generally turned his back on popular music. Green is the winner of 11 Grammy Awards, including the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. He has also received the BMI Icon award and is a Kennedy Center Honors recipient. He was included in the Rolling Stone list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time, ranking at No. 65, as well as its list of the 100 Greatest Singers, at No. 14.
Happy 75th Birthday.. Albert Leornes Greene April 13, 1946.. You are the male smooth soul singer of all time. Pure god givin' talent.. Bless you Brother..

That’s a professional singer, a master of the human voice, no tricks ,no bullshit , no technology, just an amazing soulful voice. It doesn’t get any better 🖖😀🇮🇪😁 pure love ❤️
As a white guy, the reason is that people have disrespected black people and their culture for centuries. That's why black pride and white pride are totally different things. @@ms3707
It totally and forever stands alone. There is no comparison. Al Green’s voice alone, delivers in both song and performance, in such a profound way, that it simply could not have been captured more perfectly.
I literally saw this man in 1972 in Houston. My friend's mom got us in as ushers by having a tie, and a flashlight. We were the only 2 white guys in the place. Ha Ha. But we didn't care about that whatsoever. It was my first live concert EVER. He was awesome.
LYRICS: I'm, I'm so in love with you Whatever you want to do Is all right with me 'Cause you make me feel so brand new And I want to spend my life with you Let me say that since, baby Since we've been together Ooh Loving you forever Is what I need Let me be the one you come running to I'll never be untrue Ooh baby Let's, let's stay together (Together) Loving you whether, whether Times are good or bad, happy or sad Ooh, ooh, yeah Whether times are good or bad, happy or sad Why, somebody, why people break-up Oh, turn around and make-up? I just can't deceive You'd never do that to me (Would you, baby?) Stayin' around you is all I see Let's, we oughta stay together (Together) Loving you whether, whether Times are good or bad, happy or sad, come on Let's, let's stay together Loving you whether, whether Times are good or bad, happy or sad
OMG! Pure and beautiful talent. Don't know what made me come here today but can't stop watching and listening to the voice and talented band. Was blessed to have my father take me to see him in person way back in the day.
We’ve fucked up the planet beyond redemption but the Reverend Al Green’s voice is being beamed out into the cosmos: we have fulfilled our mission as a species, and when we have died off, the Earth will recover.
Al Green is FEELING this song!! I could watch him perform all day. Such a beautiful voice and he sings this effortlessly. I miss live performances where folks had to actually sing and real instruments had to be played. Younger folks today don't know what they are missing. The whole vibe back then was just different. Talent like this man has, endures through time.
