Quite right. But Jennifer Hudson does a great version of this song at the Al Green tribute in the Kennedy centre: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lD2PfWganbU.html
@@robertvanruyssevelt7159 And truth be told, Jennifer Hudson will be able to do a superb version of any song. That girl can sing the phone book, and it would sound Awesome!!
Listening to this in 2022....... What a magnificent piece of music......by an iconic talented man. Someone please teach the new generation about music !!!!!
Well, I'm from 80's generation. Don't know about you. I can tell you, I do need Al Green in my life and sometimes in this new world I feel like I can not breath with music from today. Check Alabama Shakes, do you know who is the singer? She's pretty good!
They think rapping dirty lyrics while sampling other people is creating music. That's not music it's stealing. We once had artists who could express themselves with every word they song. There are few artists left who can express themselves without putting down our beautiful men and women.
My Best Friend, Jimmy Elpes from Jacksonville, Fl. played guitar for Mr. Al Green and always, always spoke very highly of Al Green! Jimmy went too Heaven a few years ago after developing throat cancer. RIP My Brother...May GOD Continue to Bless You Mr. GREEN! Much Love from My Family to Yours!!!

Sekhem Asaru, you are so very wise and on point with your comment. I hope you don't mind if I put a small spin to it, *this should make you want to live longer*. Hearing this song nearly had me in tears... thinking about my late husband. Loved that man so much! A song that really made me cry was the Brecker Brothers, 'What Can A Miracle Do'. Talk about power! So, Mr. Asaru, I want to thank you for your beautiful comment. Truly touched my heart & soul! 💕🎶
That right there is THE MISTER AL GREEN.....went to see him in Atlantic City, NJ some 10 years ago....heard HE was there so just had to go.....man, if that man can't sing......ain't nobody can.....blessed with that voice !!
I saw Al Green in Dallas in the late 90’s. Isley Brothers opened for him. I just burst into to tears to finally see him in person. I felt like love was pouring off of him into the audience. The best show ever and I’ve seen a few.
Al Green's voice was given to him by God and that's whose sings he should be singing. I was invited to sing on a program with him. His GOSPEL music brought the house down. If you're going to preach God's word and sing his songs as he did then he will be blessed
Honestly Rev. Al Green did not break a string. If you notice the Video closely, all of the string are in tact. What happen, the other Guitarist play a Chord that didn't blend with the Choral progression. His facial expression gave it away.
AL GREEN!!! Was Special!!!! Before Synthesizers!! Straight Up And Down No Special Effects!!! There Are No More Soul Singers Like This Anymore!! Al Green Was The Last One!!!🎸🎤 With 11 Grammies 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆 A Star On The Hollywood Walk Of Fame!⭐🎶🎵 Inducted Into The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame! ⭐🎶🎵 A Kennedy Center Honors Award Winner!! Al Green Is A Legend!!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Check out Syleena Johnson. She's fantastic. No special effects, just voice. She's the daughter of a Blues singer who passed recently, Syl Johnson. There's this song called Black Balloon that you might like. There's also Jill Scott, Ledisi, Anthony Hamilton, Maxwell, and Eric Benet. 🙂
I love this music. My roommate in the Marine Corps who's name was Al Green told me that I needed to get cultured. He played all kinds of music for me. I am so greatfull that he took the time to teach me about the soul of black people. Semper Fi!
373 people who disliked this video, is tone death and in love with no talent auto tuned people not singers, cause real singers can sing. Al is a artist, writer and iconic master stylist. At the first few words you know who the artist is and you know you are going to hear a few minutes of soulful, powerful, pure ear perfection. Thank you Al you are simply beautiful.
It sounded like a guitar string broke in key. And he kept on seranading us with Simply Bueatiful. Omg Al Green is one of a kind. And Jennifer Hudson sang this song at The Kennedy Center Honors, Honoring Rev Al Green. It Was Magic
Here in 2023 still rocking with this unique hit from Mr. Al Green. Boy he could lay it down vocally! Took my share of worthy women on dates/excursions and I'd play this song and just sit back and watch the way Al Green's vocals would hit them...Simply Beautiful...
@@divingchicago Your comment makes me sad Not only are kids these days very talented, they're often putting out songs with social justice themes or messages, similar to the messages from the 60s and 70s. If the themes are similar it's because we didn't do our damn job and solve the problems. Some are adjusting vocals in the studio. Some aren't. We sound ignorant, old and out of touch when we make comments like yours. ... I have many friends in their 70s and 80s who have been making music since they were teens. They are all thrilled when they have the opportunity to play with young people. Not because they want to teach. Because they want to learn. Listen to some young people. Learn something.
HerminigildeB oh do shut the fuck up, your comment is such bullshit, in so many ways. The kids of today have zero talent and those that have so much as a smidgin of tone/voice need to be original with it instead of always putting out cover versions.
I sat next to him in a dressing room for a tv show in Hilversum Netherland in 1972 without knowing who he was until he went to number no1 in the US billboard
I saw him perform in Detroit years ago. It was downright emotional! Everyone was on their feet! Spiritual, emotional and absolutely magnificent! I'll never forget it!
how 19 people can dislike this is absolutely beyond. I played this at my mates wedding and got all the couples (and future couple) to slow dance. Good times. One of my all time favourite songs and I mainly listen to hip hop.
This man and all of his songs set so dear in my heart because he was the one that my sister who has passed in 1992 4 days after turning age 39 from the C yet anything I hear by him just takes me back to her and sometimes with tears yet with so many good memories and I thank you Al for the great memories💝😌
This is pure talent, Mr. Al Green is the man. I can remember my daddy always playing this song in his van when it was on a 8 track tape. Lol a lot of the youngsters won't know what a 8 track tape is.
Morning I'm up thinking about her loving touch listening to Mr. Green giving self-esteem to walk one more step never letting go she is the star of my show she is simply beautiful. Thank you!
A musical blessing!! I can't say enough about the soulfull Al Green! He is one of music's soul giants. I sold hundreds of his Lps and 45' s back in the records store era of 125th Street...Harlem
