Why would you put him so close to the water with the waves coming in like that? Just for dramatic effect. You could just do a live shot of the shore from a safe distance and give the report from a covered area on higher ground. People use these sensational weather videos to justify their own unsafe and reckless behavior during these storms.
Yeah and same for those in war zones, they go out on a balcony so they can duck as bombs go off nearby etc. but hey, it must be us in the minority because so many buy into it and get excited over it.
Maybe Al having Cancer is making him do more dangerous things, “hey I’m already on the verge dying” logic. Can’t blame NBC if he made the choice to film there

If they didn't film it you'd be screaming the storm was fake news and a conspiricy to keep people locked in their houses without electricity. This is such a serious situation...but I just laughed till I cried when the camera pans out to a relatively safer and drier, well ,everywhere to his left. Thank you Al. I needed that. Now back to worry.

@@meldog7925 But honestly I can tell that he really does enjoy his job. He always does weather reports with a big smile on his face. I've never heard him swear or complaint about his job. He's doing what God has him on earth to do and that is report on the weather.

I was there for Andrew, I think this will be catastrophic but not nearly as much wind damage will occur. Andrew tore sides of houses off, took out every tree and destroyed most everything in its path with its fierce wind.

This coverage is epic! He was standing near the water to get hit with the waves. I understand getting rating and I love it. Great shots. There is not enough money for me to fly to a storm but I'm happy others will risk their lives for my enjoyment in watching.
That was hilarious! Poor Al! I thought they only sent the newbies out on this type of assignment. Why even bother with live shots if we can show it virtually with real time satellite imagery. Makes no sense to put veteran news people in harms way.

This just seems like a really outdated concept, seeing the weatherman stand too close to the waves to get smashed by water as you watch is the realest boomer stuff I've ever seen.
