I'm convinced al could revive wrestling. His point about magic is awesome. Makes me realize the connection between magic and wrestling. Magic is just as much psychology as wrestling is.. interesting.

And like wrestling, the magic industry kept the techniques behind the tricks behind a secretive curtain in order not to ruin the industry and still get bums in seats. People obviously knew it was trickery rather than actual unexplained “magic”, but put it to the back of their minds to be fooled and entertained. I’d recommend watching ‘The Prestige’ by Christopher Nolan just as a random recommendation, a fantastic movie about magicians dedicated to the craft that take things too far!

I remember watching a PPV in the 90s (I think it was Rock Bottom in Your house, but don't quote me on that unless you can confirm it too.). - In a backstage brawl segment mid-way into the show, in the background you could clearly see the Rock and Mick Foley (unmasked) chilling out with drinks, watching the brawl happen. - Mankind vs Rock was the main event though!! - I was a kid at the time, and I was like "WHAAA?? Al Snow's talks are always great. I've always known that wrestling was a show and not "real fighting/real hate", but it still sucked to go to a wwf show back in the day and see tag teams that were supposed to be having conflict sitting with each other during the show. Even when I played sports as a kid, it was frowned upon to hang out with players on the opposing team during tournaments because we were supposed to get on the ice/field and sell the game... and that wasn't even an act. Maybe some coaches took it too seriously, but I got it.

Agreed this is my opinion It's a difference tho like actors can have a rivalry in a movie than take pictures in public the next week cause movies are a one time thing. Al Snow explains things great. I wish WWE thought like he did. Yes we know it's a work but that doesn't mean they can't treat it like respect. We know movies are fake but there is a reason The Godfather made more an is more respected than Sharknado. Yes we know it's a work Vince but more people watched and respected wrestlers like Flair, Savage, Hogan, Sting, Vader, Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels than this crap today. I used to get into a feud between Rick Rude and Sting but today I turn on the TV and I see the New Day fighting the Wyatts and it doesn't remind me of a wrestling feud or a movie feud , it reminds of the actors that work on the Disney on Ice tour.

Thomas Barrett Did you not hear Al's analogy on movie production? It's not about "tricking" people, it is about keeping a certain level of quality in their work. If you watched a movie and saw camera crews and equipment in the background of every scene, surely you would think it's a shit movie. Well it's not much different than this. Except the camera crews and equipment are the wrestlers in real life. Keeping their real selves hidden from the show makes the show better.

I think one of the biggest insults to the fans in recent memory was the Charlotte/Becky episode of Ride Along. It aired during late 2018 when they were in the middle of their feud over on Smackdown. Now at the start of the episode, the narrative voice-over explained that it "was filmed" prior to Summerslam when they were still friends. That's fair enough and it might have flown right over our heads, but the problem was that later in the episode, Charlotte and Becky started talking about the women's Evolution PPV which wasn't even a concept prior to Summerslam! So it was obviously filmed *after* Summerslam after Becky and Charlotte had already started feuding with each other!

He then drives off with the heroine (Rae Dawn Chow) and the car on the left side is brand new. But aside from that i think Snow is a great wrestler and is fantastic on these shoot videos.

When he asked the question I tried to come up with my own explanation before hearing his and the best I came up with was "Active Performance Verisimilitude." I also realized that Kayfabe was a bit hard to explain, hence why they made a new word for it. Al respects the craft. I draw a little line between the "Business" of wrestling and the "Craft". They are related, but not the same. I expect he also respects the business of course, but respecting the craft is what makes an Al Snow over a Hulk Hogan. Hulk understands and respects the business, at least enough to get what he wants, but he doesn't respect the craft, not like guys like Al do. I love these videos, Al is a great teacher.

So by definition of Al Snow, AEW has been ruining kayfabe for years with their post match press conference.

The only thing AEW HASN'T ruined was MJF. And they were pretty dang close to doing that.

I think social media destroys kayfabe. What made undertaker such a legendary character? You didn’t see him out of character often, he didn’t do insta lives or Snapchats, the moment you let the public into that part of you’re world, it’s that cgi moment “oh this isn’t real”

I love how he says around 4:46 I hope they continue to make more noise in this F* building. Then at 5:07 exactly he says don't insult ppl.

Patrick P... not like he said: I hope those shit heads continue to make noise in this fucking building... with context, he is trying to talk with other wrestlers in the middle of the fucking building.

He's right about suspension of disbelief. Seeing a 555 phone number in a movie always takes me out of it.
