I find this song to be so intriguing and fascinating. It brings you in to this somewhat mysterious story , then the segway in to the instrumental composition is nothing short of miraculous! The selection of instruments and their sequence, well, it is the most captivating number I have heard in all my years as a musician. I would pay the price of a ticket for this one song alone!! Thank you! Extremely well done!

Amo esta canción!!! La escuché por primera vez cuando tenía 13 años. Hoy aún la escucho y regreso en el tiempo!!! Nací en el año del gato! I was born in the year of the cat. ❤

I live and breathe for this kind of music. Knew exactly what where who I was when I first heard YOTC. Feeling the nostalgic blues.

Al Stewart has made the comment several times that he wrote this song five different times before the record company finally settled on this version of it. The other four versions were entitled something completely different but the music was exactly the same. Al Stewart said when he came up with the name Year of the cat he was at his girlfriend's house and she had a book that was opened to 1975, I think it was a book of astrology, maybe Vietnamese astrology or something, but anyway the book was open to this specific chapter and it said 1975 the Year of the cat and he said he knew as soon as he heard the phrase Year of the cat that that was going to be the name of this song.

In ‘78 everyone in my music class had to do a report on this song. Ever since then I have loved this song. Thank you Ms. Nadler for having us do that. It’s funny how people interpret a song.

Always see myself back in Morocco, those times where you didn't mind "losing your ticket", " didn't mind " the tourists gone", "loving when the morning came while still being with her" and ready to gladly throw away your plans to "stay on" .....at least for now Happily taking whatever life brings you ....... .Fantastic song!!!

In my country, some public bus drivers put music player on and when Year of the cat are playing I LOVE so that that I prefer skip one station up just for listening it, even if I'm listening other track in my cell phone.
