I dont know if you can watch them on the platform youre on, but fma has brotherhood has 4 small ova episodes. One of them even is about the teacher and her way of becoming an alchemist
Bradley has been mortally wounded at this point. He is a dead man walking, but yet he's still skilled enough to hold his own against nearly everyone. Impressive.
Just for some clarification Bradley can't regenerate period. It's a consequence of only having one soul in in his philosopher's stone (each regeneration uses up some of the souls that power the stones). He was deliberately made that way because he needed to be able to age. And despite what he says, he actually enjoys the things he claims infuriate him about humanity. When his whole life and every act has been planed by someone else, he likes the fact that humanity can surprise him and force him to go off script a little.
The fact that Bradly doesn’t regenerate and that the Stone is all powered by One Soul just shows how everything he does is all him with the exception of the Eye being a Gift of The Philosophers Stone.
He does enjoy it. I think it's less that he's mad at humanity in general and more that he's mad that he's been lied to about humanity. He's been told over and over again that they cannot learn or change or grow. That they were inferior to the Homunculus... but that is not the truth. He is learning that now, that they have far more potential than he was led to believe and that makes him angry... because he, like Envy, is jealous of humanity and what they're capable of. Humans have choices that he has never had. He's angry at Father for taking those things away from him and planning his life out for him and turning him into a weapon. There was only one soul left inside of this stone, sure, but I can about bet that was Bradley's original soul. Because who, in his shoes, wouldn't be angry?
I'm not sure I'd say it was _deliberate_ that he can't regenerate and continues to age as a result of having only one soul remaining in his Stone, but it's certainly convenient for them and they exploit that to the absolute fullest. And, since the "most wrathful" souls were "pinched off" to make his Stone, he's a distillation of that emotion. He talks about how much all these things about Humanity "infuriate" him, but Wrath is who and what he _is._ So being upset over being thrown for a loop like that, being challenged, humans expressing emotions and mourning loss, etc.; he really does "enjoy" and "admire" those qualities and respects those traits, but the only (or at least the most prevalent by far) emotion available to him to *express* that is "Anger". So it's the "temperature" of the anger, so to speak, that differentiates it and gives it nuance and let's a single emotion apply so broadly. He rarely gets "heated", but often expresses very "cold" Wrath. And many of the other Homunculi were very similar, expressing broad emotional reactions all filtered through one strong emotion. Envy filtered all his experiences through his jealousy and even expressed his admiration of Humans in terms of hatefulness, spitefulness, and Envy in general. Greed talked about how greed is nothing more or less than "wanting something". The wanting is neutral, it's the motive behind it that qualifies it, and Humans are the ones complicating things by projecting value judgements onto the "wants", the Greed of others, claiming "wanting" some things is OK or even praiseworthy while "wanting" other things is "evil". Wrath is angry at Humanity, but being angry is exactly what makes him happy because, for him, "Happy" is just a different "flavor" of _Anger._
@@deenman23 They needed Envy out and about doing various things. They couldn't spare having him essentially "stuck" playing that role when he could be put to better use as a field agent. Also, his personality didn't exactly lend itself to the proper... demeanor... for the job.
Luke, remember when Lust said something along the lines of "i can't wait to see the light disappear from your eyes!" as she was dying? Well that was a foreshadow to Mustang losing his eyesight.
There's a beauty about this episode. In the portal of Truth, The hands reach out to drag those who refuse to leave. But they weren't needed because Alphonse willingly left all of his hopes and desires behind. Secondly in the end "Your selfless act may of doomed the world" if he had taken his body back, than Alphonse wouldn't be there as the 5th Sacrifice. In essence foiling the Fathers plan. If he took his body back, his Soul would be trapped in the portal depriving the real world a sacrifice.
You mean the great... From this episode, I'm noticing that Luke still doesnt realize that the "King" in Bradley's name isn't a title, but it's his actual FIRST name, when he mentioned Roy being king 😂
"The two brothers who wanted to feel their mothers warmth once more. Their attempt to bring the dead back cost one of them the leg on which he stood, as well as the only family he had left. The other lost his entire body to have it replaced with a suit of armor that could feel nothing. The woman that sought bring bring back her only baby, was given a body that would never again bare children. And then ... the man who looked to change his nation had his eyesight taken from him and now he can no longer see his future." I don't know why but i love this dialog from Father
I just wanna say that this entire journey has been incredible and that ive been here since the start of FMAB and that as much as i dont want it to end, i cant wait for this ending
Bradley is the only one who dodges Mustang's attack in the entire series. I love how Luke got pissed of Bradley over and over again, considering how strong and unstoppable he is in the previous episode. Luke just wants happiness and good guy winning, goddammit.
Normally a sacrifice like Al makes in this episode would be the thing that gives the heroes the edge they need to win, but FMAB says, "You're down? How about I kick you some more?"
So here's more fun trivia: FMA had something called Omake in the manga, where the author would write scenes from her story but in a funny parody way. Like my sister's favorite one is when Ed is digging up his mother's body, but finds Colonel Mustang instead. Not dead! He's just buried up to his face and looking PISSED Brotherhood also animated some originals in a segment called 4-koma theater, and they are very funny. Here is one of them about this episode (with no spoilers for the future!) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dgMcmNvJNnk.html
@@GOTGames I think the Japanese dub's version is funnier because they both have the exact same name in it, which is hilarious. However the English version is especially funny when you think about how the voice actors had to memorize both ridiculous names
This episode is the one that made me realize that I could cry out of sheer impotence. I've mentioned before that Mustang is my favorite character and that's why this hit me like a train I guess. The whole situation seem so unfair. At the end he was just forced and loose something sooo important. This show is my favorite because it showed me I could feel a variety of things coming from different characters and their POVs. For the last episode I suggest you leave the ending because it's a bit different.
One of the things I love about FMA is that Hiromu Arakawa worked very well the silence between the characters, it shows the complicity of Al and Ed, or Hawkeye and Mustang. It shows that they have a history and knowledge of each other beyond the story we're seeing, its really amazing and you don't just see it with those characters!
You already forgot about the Truth? I mean, in the literal first time he appears he tells us exactly what he is. I don't think there's any mystery regarding that. You could say he's the truth, or maybe God, or maybe the universe ans so on. He's nobody and everyone. He's the literal embodyment of One is all, and All is one. Simply put, the Truth is everything.
And here I thought Bradley and Scar's real name was Jugemu-jugemu Gokōnosurikire Kaijarisuigyo-no Suigyōmatsu Unraimatsu Fūraimatsu Kūnerutokoroni-sumutokoro Yaburakōjino-burakōji Paipopaipo-paiponoshūringan Shūringanno-gūrindai Gūrindaino-ponpokopīno-ponpokonāno Chōkyūmeino-chōsuke.
I have said this in a response to someone else, but Bradley himself is a great character once you realize that, even though he says that humans make him angry, I don't think that it's for reasons that you may think. He's angry at humanity because he's been taught and brainwashed his entire life that humans are inferior, they have no meaning or purpose other than being used for father's plans, that they can't learn and change and grow... and yet they prove him wrong... and he hates it... he hates that he has been lied to... he's angry because Father took his own humanity from him, took all of his choices away from him and turned him into a monster. He's angry because he's learning that humans are in fact superior to homunculus, and just like Envy, he is jealous of that. Bradley has been someone time and time again that has made it clear that he has been stripped of all choices in his life. His name, rank, job, everything was decided for him. He got to make zero choices about his own life... which makes him the one incapable of living and being happy in a way that he wants and chooses. The fact that humanity challenging him makes him happy in an unexpected ways, is because he wants to be proven wrong. If you remember a conversation a while back he had with pride, he even suggested that they, the homunculus, should move aside for people like Mustang to take over and he was called a traitor for saying it...
18:15 I somehow only just realised that the organ taken from Izumi was her womb. Im not well versed in biology but that explains why she can still somehow still function despite her "insides" being taken.
7:10 so remember when bradly was talking with hawkeye about how he became a homonculus (i believe it was in that scene either that one or the one where he was talking to ed and mustang after the first fight with father gluttony and envy where ling got greed) bradley said that all the souls of the stone fought each other until their was only 1 left and that he doesn't even know if he is the original soul that inhabited his body or just one of the many that survived this means that only 1 soul is powering the philosopher stone inside of him, so he doesnt have the ability of regeneration which is why you never seen him regenerate any of his injuries with his fight with greed, fu, or buccaneer, he only has the ultimate eye and nothing else 11:25 kimblee was his name
I'm not entirely sure if Al would have returned to normal had he accepted his old body back. I THINK, and I could be wrong about this, he would have been stuck in that void between between gates
@@scottw5247 But the gold-toothed doctor sacrificed 5 people to open the portal. That was the price, as I understand it. So Al really could have pulled his body back, I think.
Luke should be glad that he is watching Brotherhood and not the original. The original has an ending that he would hate for sure. Also make sure to watch this video about the part with Scar and Wrath's name introduction (it's a famous official joke): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Ee6vPgnuVAg.html
This is it! We are about to enter the very last stretch! All sacrifices are there. Only 2 enemy homunculi left, each falling apart in their own way. And the eclipse just started. All the pieces of this amazing 60 episodes long wargame are in their place on the board of Amestris. The endgame is here. Prepare to have your breath taken away 🤩
King motherfucking Bradley is nothing like Joffery take that back. Also I just love how Father is like damn this bitch broke my roof now the value has gone to shit.
Yep. Bradley was kidnapped and brainwashed and turned into a weapon. He really had no chance at being good... Joffrey on the other hand was just a homicidal psychopath.
Thinking of GoT I think Bradley's closest comparison would be Tywin, an older grizzled veteran with contempt for everyone else. Bradley has a slight sense of humor though (or at least he acts like it). They both think they're better than everyone and have a sense of shrewdness. It's not a perfect 1 to 1 but it's the closest I think of off the cuff. Also now I can bring you back to Lust's death. Do you remember the last thing she said to Mustang? "I look forward to the day when those eyes will be wide with agony. It's coming." It's amazing foreshadowing that I never even caught until I saw a comment watching people react to this anime.
I regret to inform you that FMA:B is not going to stop doing this :') It's not gonna stop ramping it up either; last few episodes...man, I don't envy you and I admire your fortitude to wait in between episodes
What is Truth? "I am called by many names. I am the world, I am the universe, I'm GOD, I am Truth, I am one, and I am all, and I am also...YOU". The first conversation he has with Ed, he says this. No comment on what it means, but you've seen a majority of the show now. You have some understanding of how alchemy works. The answer is there. Now that you're this far, I should say, watch all the way through the last episode when you get to it. Do not skip the end credits sequence, even if you have to mute it. You've seen the way this show pays off its buildups, and I won't hint at anything, but like everything else in this show, and especially as you've seen, the last parts of it, it's good.
I’d only ever read the manga before watching your reactions to this off Patreon, reading the part where Mustang’s sight is taken made me cry, and I’m so so glad it was done this well in the show too. The music really adds another layer of despair to that horrific and ironic moment. Makes me even more excited for the way everything ends.
Hawkeye looked up and saw Gerso getting into position. So it gave Mustang the signal that something was happening. You don't really really learn everything about the Truth until close to the end of the series. All we really know right now is that it is extremely powerful and mysterious.
I'll say, I've seen the bouncing around of the item thing happen, but you have to remember that in real time it might all happen in like a second. And where I've seen it is very specifically a place, like in the show, where there are just a bunch of people in anarchy, namely in the pit at a metal concert.
I'm not sure the question "Who is Truth?" even makes sense. It's like asking "Who is Gravity?", or "Who is Time?" Truth can be brutal. Truth can be cruel. Truth can be disgusting. But at the end of the day, Truth is Truth.
You know i feel like character of "Truth" is kinda inspired by lord krishna (he is an god from India). Cuz remember when Ed he asked truth who are you? And he replied:- I am everything and at the same time I am nothing, i am you, i am god, i am also devil (i don't exactly remember all the lines truth said but ya it was something like this) so in Mahabharata lord krishna said the exact same things to Arjun to clear all his doubts (Mahabharata is an war that once took place in India. I don't know how much of things in it are true cuz it involves a lot of supernatural stuff like monsters, magic, curses, magica weapons,e.c.t. but people believe it actually happened cuz every single place mentioned in the story exists in India and even the place where war took place still has kinda remains of the war). If you wish to know anymore about it just look up Mahabharata on Google or something. It's a really long story so i can't write everything about it.
@@Ayush-kc2vx You see, that's the beauty of The Truth. As the wiki puts it, "Truth embodies the universe, serves as both a deity and monad for it, and also represents the consciousnesses and consciences of living things." The Idea of deities, and the idea of a monad(s) predates Hinduism. And yet if you're raised in Hinduism, you'll likely be able to relate Truth to Hinduism. In fact, as someone who was raised in Christianity, I can relate The Truth to Yahweh. I can even make a case for Taoism if I tried.
Think of it this way, the last chapter of this series was published June 11, 2010. The last episode aired July 4th, mere weeks later. When this episode, Ep. 59, was airing, the manga readers were still screaming like you've been screaming, wondering how everything will be wrapped. Enjoy the rodeo because things are about to get WILD!
-Opening suggestions: 1. Ergo Proxy, "Kiri" by Monoral 2. The Big O, "The Big O! The Show Must Go On!" 3. World's Finest Assassin, "Dark Seeks Light" by Yui Ninimiya 4. Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress, "Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress" by Egoist 5. Mobile Suit Gundam, all openings 6. Schwarzesmarken, "White Forces" by Fripside -Ending suggestion: 1. Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress, "Ninelie" by Aimer -Game OST suggestion: 1. Girls' Frontline - Longitudinal Strain, "Twilight feat. Kinoko"
The way I interpreted Al's body's words is more like: 'If Al would have rejoined with his body he wouldn't just have gotten his body back and all would be well, but instead he would have moved on aka died. But this would have had the benefit, that the homonculi would have lost their fivth sacrafice wich would have bin quite a problem for them.' Honestly I never believed that Al would just by accident get his body back. That would totally break the whole show's narative, that there would have to be paid a price zu achieve that. And the brothers refused to use other peoples soules trapped in a philosopher's stone as payment for Al's body as of now this is the only thing you could pay in exchange for Al's body that we know of.
the "bouncing around cliché" happened to me 3 separate times in the school hallways, made me wanna blow UP edit - like... the end of the first kingsmen movie type beat.

3:50 I have had a similar experience before, where I had dropped an object that was not naturally bouncy manage to bounce off my feet and wall corners and chair legs to end up on the other side of the room.
Something to add that is interesting to think about, I believe that the truth went easy on Mustang since his was involunterry. It took his eyesight but not his eyes
Regarding the “truth being” they already told you exactly who they are when Ed first saw the truth. They have many names but basically their everything(God). You’ll get your answers soon enough about everything dont worry
*Day 83* of requesting a reaction to the following openings: *Chivalry of a Failed Knight* op *Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress* op *Kiznaiver* op You could make a multiple op reaction for this. Thank you!
I think that the most 'fair' thing that Truth could have done other than they did here would be just kicking Mustang right back out of the Portal since as Ed said he wasn't willing. There wasn't any mistake to be corrected, any lesson to be learned. But whether willingly or not, he still saw the Truth and that meant he had to pay SOMETHING or it wouldn't be fair for him to get all that knowledge free of charge while others had to pay up for it. So, Truth took the middle ground and 'merely' took his eyesight. While its canonity is dubious at best being an Extra from the 2003 anime, there was an alchemist rumored to have successfully performed Human Transmutation and so naturally Ed and Al were intrigued. Turns out he failed like everyone else, and the toll exacted was his literal eyes. Compared to everyone else - 2003 and Brotherhood - Mustang got off with what's essentially a slap on the wrist. At least, that;s how I've always interpreted it :>
I've come across people who stopped watching/reading a story when it got too bleak near the end (not FMA, just in general), so I'm glad you're making these reactions because you can't quit now or we'd never stop bugging you about finishing it :D
5 left!! You've got this! You're in the Eclipse now, the endgame. Truth is actually just god/the universe. It takes the form of whatever it's talking to (we see this when it talks each character). These last 10 episodes are BRUTAL ! I told ya to buckle up! You're in for a wild last few episodes. Don't forget there's a cannon movie that takes place after this (NOT "CONQUERER OF SHAMBALA", Save yourself and DO NOT watch that)
You should also watch the original FMA anime. Don't necessarily have to do it on camera. But it would still be worth it. And to kind of compare and contrast them.
The Truth (just a non religious name alchemists call it) Has often said who it is. "I am the called by many names; I am the world, I am the universe, I am god, I am truth, I am all, I am one, and I am also you." Father interestingly refers to truth as god. Also if you get the chance go back and look at the doorway of truth. Depending on the person the doorways artwork changes. Eds has feathers. Als has roots. Mustang has Spikes. Depending on the persons personality it changes. Arakawa made the portal of truth different depending on what each persons truth was.
Awwww... gosh, I love your reactions to this show, dear Luke.😊 Well... Now you understand a bit better my trauma with this episode haha... As a Mustang fan, I have to say that the scene with Riza was sweet. Awww I love them. 😊 but imidiately after that I felt so sad when He lost his sight... I agree with Ed, that is so unfair. Becauce of this episode I hate Pride and that 💩 doctor so much. They are the characters I hate the most in this show. You talked about power balance in anime on previous reactions... Here you have the most obvious and brutal way of balancing powers. (In my opinion) The first time I saw all this I got a bit angry and wondered "What is this?" "Ok, Roy's alchemy is really powerfull and very unfair for his opponents, but...Why Hiromu did this to my boy Mustang? Why she needed to make him suffer that way??"😠😑 On the other hand... ALFONSE!!!😟😔 Al leaving his body back was very sad😥.... but I think he was right...he did the right choice. A question for you? Do you plan to react to Brotherhood OVAS? I will be hapoy to watch it if you do, but if you don't plan to react to them, I think at least you should watch it on your own. I think you would like it. Last, don't worry about how this story ends. FMA is great from start to end. Well. Have a nice weekend and greetings😊🤗
Truth is god. It is everything, Everyone and Everywhere. All knowing, All seeing, All Powerful. A deity that exists outside the laws of conception but with a whimsical nature which is why he sets these rules to see how humans progress
You ask who the truth is? One name you might have for them is The World, or you might call them The Universe, or perhaps God, or perhaps the Truth. They are all, and they are one, so of course, this also means that they are you. Not gonna lie, I had the exact same reaction as you when I read the manga chapter where Alphonse leaves his body in the portal. Just devastating sadness.
I’ve seen this 5 times (6 now) and I always cry. The build up of forced transmutation, Mustang not being able to ‘see’ the future he wants, and the climax of Alphonse - especially seeing his body 😭😭 Gets me every time…! And now ***spoilers*** please DON’T read on if you’ve not seen the ending… Warning again. Do the final words of Alphonse suggest if he just got his body back then it would’ve plundered Dwarf in the Mask’s plans there and then? Would it be the same of then only having 4 sacrifices as Father kept saying he was waiting for Alphonse to return? I don’t know how seeing this 5 times I haven’t put this together!! Probably from all the crying 🥲
I feel like a heartless person for saying this but there was only one scene in this anime that made me cry and that was Huge spoiler* . . . . . . . . . . . . Greed's death scene ;-;
Might I ask you to do a "second reaction" to the openings (and endings) once you're done with the series, as a sort of finale? There's a lot in them, the openings especially, that hits extra well when you know what's going on. Would be a good opportunity to get your thoughts on it all together too.
Yes, the series is coming to its conclusion. On the bright side even though it isn't canon (after 20 or so episodes) you can go back at some point and check out the original series. Imo the original series did the manga chapters it covered so much better than brotherhood and nailed the emotions. In brotherhood the first 10 episode's pacing is a bit off. So, there is still more content for you to come back to. Not to mention a movie if you're bored and curious about it.
Bradley's wound don't heal because they can't. He's a single soul philosopher stone fueled Homonculus. Each one of the souls of the stone and his original one clashed and fought until only one was left and took over as Wrath. Unlike Ling who accepted the souls of the stone that is Greed. In the end outside of his superhuman abilities and ultimate eye, he's a normal human being, he ages, and can't heal, just like any human
Al 100% could have taken his body back right then, the toll was paid by philosophers stone. AL however knew that he would be useless if he did... it's a horrible choice and where it would have been the best choice for getting it back I also get where al is coming from.
Based on what the Vessel said, he likely would have remained in Truth’s Domain if he took his body back but because we went to fight, he doomed everyone in the process by allowing the 5th Sacrifice to exist in their plane of existence.
I've always thought that it was bullshit, and the biggest asspull ever, that Mustang could be FORCED to do transmutation of any kind entirely against his will, much less Human Transmutation. And forced to pay the price for something that he didn't even do willingly.
to answer Wrath's question... Jugemu Jugemu Goko no Surikire Kaijarisuigyo no Suigyomatsu Unraimatsu Furaimatsu Ku Neru Tokoro ni Sumu Tokoro Yabura Koji no Bura Koji Paipo-paipo Paipo no Shuringan Shuringan no Gurindai Gurindai no Ponpokopi no Ponpokona no Chokyumei no Chosuke
