As a 45 year old Mexican American I've drank all kinds of beer, both American and Mexican and my personal favorite is Pacifico. Never gives me a hangover and it's pretty good.

The first Mexican beer was Carta Blanca, it was made in 1895. The King of Spain loved the beer and gave awards. It is light but it has good taste. Maybe you can try it someday on video.
Close. There has been Mexican beer making since the 1500’s, but especially since the 1840’s and definitely 1860’s (The Mexican emperor had his own brewmaster in the 1860’s) There is a very foggy line between European and Mexican beer and as to when it “became” Mexican, but it was earlier than that.
The oldest beer which Austrian crafters made in Mexico is Victoria, on record because before that Mexicans, we were drinkin beer before that but it wasn't mass produced, but we didn't have the fancy steel kettels to make the beer in, and didn't have breweries like the Germans, Austrians or Brits...Victoria was first made in 1845-1850 (don't recall the exact year), discovered in Toluca, before it was sold to Grupo Modelo (Modelo Group, whom make Corona, Modelo, Negra Modelo, etc.) at the end of the 19th Century - produced by Cerveceria Toluca, which is extinct now.
Watching him peel the foil off the Modelo was one of the funniest things I've ever witnessed. Imma have to show this to my family because they'd cough up a lung in laughter.
Negro Modelo is great, and especially pairs well with spicy food. Just last night though, I discovered a lone 32oz bottle of Victoria down at the corner India mart. I was extremely impressed, so much so that I believe I like it better than Pacifico, which has always been my go to sippin' Mexican beer. Negro is still my favorite, but at least in my area, it's priced more like a craft brew. I'll definitely be getting more Victoria.
I was so mad when he didn't even squeeze the lime juice out, let alone put it in the Modelo Negro. Hahahah he missed out on that. I love drinking it with habaneros or jalapenos in my food. It helps when you get the 24 oz mug of it especially. Then another 😅

It was Victoria is a Viena style beer, and Viena's not in Mexico, it's in Austria...I'm more of a semi-dark, dark Mexican beer aficionado - to me the best clear beer is Michelob ultra...But if we're talking semi ark, I love XX Amber (great with grilled steaks and asparagus tacos), Leon and Victoria (great with some fried fish tacos or grilled burgers with potato wedges), Chupacabras Pale Ale - as far as Dark Mexican beers (not stouts) the best ones in order in my opion are Best is Bohemia Obscura, then Negra Modelo, lastly Indio.
For the Modelo Negra , don't take off the foil when opening, just pop the cap off. It's meant to be poured in to a glass with lime. It's my go to Mexican beer.
it's crazy how he could tell the yellow one has german influences from just the taste of it, that beer is made where I live, Mazatlán, and the brewery was indeed created by a german guy like a hundred years ago even though in a short time it was owned by mexicans, I drink it almost every weekend, it's pretty good honestly

For me the Victoria or Corona is the everyday option, while Negra Modelo is for the few days with milder weather. I always avoid Sol, and Tecate when I can avoid it, I will, but I don't mind if I have to drink it. Also, these are the most common beer we can find in México.
I'm Mexican and your video was great. I suggest you to make another video, let's call it second part, and this time try the Indio beer, Noche Buena beer, Leon beer, Carta Blanca beer and Barrilito beer please. All Mexican beer. It will be awesome to watch it and to know your comments.
Tecate is the classic mainstream beer for Mexican Northerners, Corona the international mainstream. both poor quality in my opinion. I like Victoria and Modelo
I did this exact test lately, but all from the bottle. I had 4 ballenas (32 ouncers): Corona Familiar, Tecate, Pacifico, Victoria. They don’t sell big bottles of Modelo Negra, so I just had a 12 oz. Thoughts: Pacifico is out. Not up to par. Corona Familiar is the most full-bodied and crisp. Light lager notes. Good, but better with food. Tecate from the bottle is not common. It’s usually in a can. Its better from the bottle. It’s a unique flavor. Sort of a light herbal molé flavor. But better with food than as a stand-alone beer. Victoria and Modelo Negra are the best stand-alone Mexican lagers. Victoria is unique because it’s the most European of all Mexican beers. It’s described as “Vienna style.” It has more dark fruit flavors. It has less of that metallic grimy Mexican flavor. Modelo Negra has the Mexican essence, but with pleasant coffee and light caramel flavor. It’s a classic. Verdict: Pacifico is pointless. Tecate and Corona Familiar are great with Mexican food. Victoria and Modelo Negra are both great stand-alone lagers, depending on what you’re looking for.
Red and Blue Tecate are of the most (if not the most) popular beers in Mexican bars, parties and social events. BUT popular isn't equal to good, so personally I try to avoid Tecate whenever I can. From those beers I'd choose Pacifico first, Victoria second. Negra Modelo is really good but 1. it's not easily available in the average Mexican store (unlike Tecate) and 2. it's more of a "just one or two beers" mood, like when you really just want to taste a good beer, not get hammered. Sol is a no-no for me, it just tastes bad.
Up until like 2-3 years they had Pacificos en puro tall boys down south/east then later in 6 packs later 12 pcks in certain areas. So depends on availability I guess. But bottle does taste better than can
For those that don't know. you are supposed to just open the Modelo with a bottle opener the foil tears perfectly and evenly. It's not meant to peel off beforehand.... Thank me later
I’m Mexican and this is a pretty legit review lol. The modelo is my personal favorite, a little bolder but the Victoria’s and sol are the old Mexican guys favorite beer
I grew up in AZ, I love modelo and I remember the first time I traveled to another part of the US after I turned 21 and I was amazed that they didn’t have Mexican imports everywhere.

Hell, we even have a couple Salvadoran beers (Suprema and Pilsener) at one or two places. They’re all really similar, but I gotta give it to Victoria for a flavorful beer that I can still slam a case of if I want to lol
Out of the beers you just tried I prefer Negra Modelo, Victoria and Pacifico. But don't mind the Corona or Sol, but without a doubt my personal favorite Mexican beer is Bohemia. It's similar to the Negra Modelo but a richer taste, also stronger.

Most of the beer trademarks in Mexico had a strong influence of german and spaniard techniques from centuries ago, so this is why they're so competitive in quality.
Modelo especial are one of my favorites, tastes pretty good out of the can, RED TECATE, tastes better in a glass... PACIFICO you can drink from the bottle, co2 makes it tastes so much better...
The one thing with Mexican beer. They are made to go with your food. If you have spicy nuts or chips with Salty crackers you will get a boost on their flavors

Was introduced to Tecate on a trip to Tucson AZ with my Dad and it was the recommended 'house' beer of a restaurant we popped in. It was just one of those right thing at the right time kinda deal and a memory with Dad that I hold even closer now that he is gone. Mexican beers by-and-large are pretty good, but the Tecate (bottle with a lime) is pretty dang special. I am glad this popped-up in my feed.
Same brother the last beer me and my dad had together was Tecate and I actually put him on to one and he started buying them ever since. He used buy Modelo and Corona cans prior. Miss the old man every day… cheers your’s and my old man my friend 🍻

Still have to try: Carta Blanca, Bohemia and Modelo Especial, btw you don’t unwrap the foil on Modelos, you just straight up open it. The foil will cut perfectly and all you do is bring down the excess foil making a circle with your fingers.
Working in a restraunt, salt with beer is very common, even for American beers. People even salt the beer itself, like grind salt into their draft. Also, for Modelos, open it first through the foil and then peel or fold it to your liking. That's the easy way.
Modelo and Pacifico are sure winners, Tecate is not that good (for me). There are some beers outside the mainstream imports but also into the commercial mexican range like Montejo, Leon, Indio and Carta Blanca that are worth giving a try. Nice video man!

You can just pop the cap off the modelo without having to peel the foil from it. Try Modelo Especial on a white can. Squirt lime and salt over the can and drink it while you sip your beer.
Peeling the foil is what you do when you are drunk and cant pay attention properly about your surroundings. Good drunk guys stay quiet peeling the foil
You don’t need to peel the aluminum out of the Modelo negra, and that is by far the best mexican bear my man...you get a six-pack of those and you are done
@@LuisJimenez-lb2wq I haven't had it yet but I'll compare it too a Guinness extra stout. Dark beers are normally a bit more thick compared too the rest so a six pack of either id imagine is like eating an entire thing of bread lol so filling
