I love the large 4x4 size, but that frame mount seems really clunky 😅 I honestly wish @aputurelighting made a big profesional soft panel like this. I bet it would have a better design and not be as expensive. For context: I currently am using the Intellytech litecloth 1x1 and 2x2 (V1). I love this style of lights because they pack down so small and I can bring a big(ish) soft light in just a small suitcase when I'm traveling without a car. The Litecloths have design and buildquality issues though, and are already starting to fall apart after only 3 years of occasional use. Eespecially the controller & power supply design is really annoying to work with. I know Amaran now has very similar fabric lights. I would love a more professional version though. I don't mind paying a bit more for something really solid. A bigger 4x4 would be really cool too. Ideally they would have a way to pack them down with the diffusion attached so they don't require to be assembled and disassembled each time on location.
It's cool but it is one of the most expensive lights per square inch out there. It's bright, it's powerful, and it's accurate. I think for the individual operator it is out of the price range( most of us cannot charge per light). I went with the Intellytech because of cost. The Mosaic is a wonderful light, just too expensive at this point. Excellent review-you guys are doing an excellent job!!
Oh man that was this guy who shot some of those interviews for Vice? I have been thinking about the lighting setups for those recently and wondering if it was something like a Litecloth or Amaran flexible panel overhead. I think I could see in the widest shots revealing the setup that it was something like that.
Aladdin lights are *good*. I've never had any problem with them when it came to build construction and the likes but they are simply not worth the price for me. At the weight they are trying to punch, I shouldn't have to think about how I could make the rigging easier. Maybe I'm gonna sound cheap by saying this but they could easily cut 2000$ off the price before I consider it.
