saw him a a clinic about 2 weeks ago and asked him to slow D-Code right down which he graciously did, no gimics or effects that i could tell, the man is amazing and D-Codec is the best bass playing ever recorded.
What continues to impress me the most about Caron's slap playing is his economy of motion - minimal movements, maximum speed. To be playing licks like that on a six-string... man.....
Alains accuracy ,is second to none , he truly world class, For you who don't know it he is now Dr.Caron, from the province of Quebec. His use of the V bass system id also very cool!.
@basicallybass: Sounds like he's using octaver and autowah on his upper strings only. His big split-coil neck pickup seem to split the signals from the B-E-A Strings and the D-G-C strings. And some Chorus in between sometimes, I'd say. But it might as well be some sounds coming from a connected MID synth, since he's known to use MIDI quite a lot.
Encore un excellent musicien français expatrié pour cause d'incomprehension dans son pays natal... Remarque, pour jouer avec Uzeb, il a quand meme bien fait... :)
he only use 2 fingers to pop the string, I saw him yesterday in a master class, and he talked about his popping technique, he said he only use 2 fingers
