Alameda Co. DA claims insurers are defrauding CA homeowners, engaging in unlawful business practices 

A county DA claiming fraud against California consumers on the part of insurance companies? If she really has credible evidence, the proper and logical action would be to turn that evidence over to the state attorney general for further action. This smacks of desperation publicity seeking on the part of a DA facing a recall election.

Almost all of my friends have had their homeowners insurance canceled. I live in Santa Cruz and the insurance companies here don’t care about the actual risk. They are only concerned about a perceived risk. My closest friend was informed by her insurer, (for the last 40 years) they would only insure her if, maybe, she replaced the roofs on her home and studio. She did get one done and was scheduled to have the next one replaced when the insurance company dropped her. Thousands of dollars later and she was dropped. After 40 years of dutifully paying her homeowners insurance. This is criminal.

Note to the oblivious, insurance companies never lose. If some companies bail, the a new company owned by the same investors will spring up with increased rates.

If Farmers quit California because of this, oh boy...
