SNAKE IN THE GRASS by Alan Ayckbourn.
FARNWORTH LITTLE THEATRE
Welcome to Annabel and Miriam Chester's family garden with Silver Birch and Oak trees, disused summer house and tennis court. This play is an absolute gem. Described by the playwright as ‘a ghost play’, Snake in the Grass is a black comedy and, at the same time a sinister, psychological thriller. Following the death of their tyrannical father, Annabel returns to the family home after twenty years abroad, to be re-united with her sister Miriam. As they get to know each other again, they find themselves haunted by the terrifying ghosts of their past. A must see on a dark and windy night.
"Ten minutes into Act II, I thought I knew where Ayckbourn was going, but I was only half right: with this playwright, it never does to think you're a step ahead. A creepily, scarily, eerily enjoyable evening."
(Sunday Times, 9 June 2002)
"A terrific piece - brilliant, bizarre and yet totally believable… In fact, it’s more than classic; it’s close to the top of its class."
(Yorkshire Post)
" Every time it seems about to strike its foreseeable points, Alan Ayckbourn's 2002 dark comic thriller slithers past our expectations.
