What do you expect? This is a channel called 'Thatcheritescot' - given that Thatcher was in power 23 years ago, 14 years should be a surprise, not a complaint. And I'd rather have Alan Clark than Andy Burnham any day.

Clarke was a fascist or at least an apologist thereof. In his second volume of diaries, he talks of putting the portrait of 'Wolf' back in its proper place in his castle. 'Wolf was the code name of Hitler whilst residing in the 'Wolf's Lair' in Eastern Prussia during the war. But no doubt people like Thatcheritescot don't care about such detail. Didn't shed a single tear when the selfish bastard snuffed it, and I think the world is a better place without his like.
I find your reply laughable, but in a good way - and by that I mean it made me laugh. I think you exaggerate about my cut and paste strategy. Why? Because I don't think every 80s Tory was such an admirer of Hitler as Clarke obviously was. They were mostly all heartless bastards certainly, but for a defence minister to openly admit, even if he found it curious, that he didn't care one jot if British weapons were used against the populace of the governments to which they were selling them, is tantamount to reprehensibility or worse. Perhaps you will accuse me of naivete, but I don't think this honesty absolves Clarke at all; rather I think it damns him. It also makes his book on WWI worthless because it's utterly hypocritical.
