Alan Haynes - Funky Texas Thang (2013) 

I have seen Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, Brian May, Dickey Betts, Johnny Winter, Eric Clapton, Joe Walsh, Robin Trower and many more guitar virtuosos and seeing and hearing Alan Haynes at the One 2 One club South Lamar Austin TX in 2019 was as good as any of the fore mentioned.

One of my favorite players of all time!!! Love Alan's style... Gotta be unique to a Texas blues thang😊

Saw Alan in Austin at a pub/restaurant circa 2010-ish during SBSW (South by South-West). We happened to filter into a venue - and none other than Alan Haynes was playing! There were hardly any people in the restaurant and we had a front row seat. Just WOW! Alan took a break and sat with us for a bit (my ex and I - the "we" I speak of). I mentioned to him that he's a doppelganger of my old next door neighbor in MI who got me going on the blues. He was amused. My ex mentioned that she had a signed copy of his CD and Alan implored her that it was rare and already increasing in value. I don't doubt that. Alan is down to earth, ridiculously talented, and I will not disclose the rest of the conversation because I believe it was personal (in a good kind of way). He didn't have to sit down with this couple and shoot the breeze. But I'm glad he did and got to know some personal aspects of an incredible talent and genuinely nice guy (ok - I said it).

I remember watching Alan in his tidy-whities play his ol' red 335 at the kitchen table WHILE he was eating a bowl of cereal. Most guitarist that feel the need to play constantly would be annoying as hell, but Alan asked if it was OK, and seeing how dedicated he was, it was easy to understand his passion! All the best, ol' pal!

Yeah he's excellent. Great to see some good blues guitar going round. Wish you could see the pick up switch better - he uses it a lot and I'll take hints anywhere I ca get 'em. Does Alan have any CDs out? A cursory search didn't find any.
