I am Canadian but cry when watching this - I was in New York City and at ground zero 4 months after 9/11 when people cared about one another, were kind, receptive - sad how that city has changed 😢 I worked in the Air traffic Control field in Vancouver BC, that day - one of the hardest most exhausting days ever!

Im sure I'm not the only one listening to this song today my heart is with those who lost someone 23 years ago

I was six years old, living in Wisconsin, and my younger brothers and I were watching Dragon Tales. My mom was sick of cartoons and wanted to watch the morning news. As she changed the channel, the second plane hit. She called my dad at work and told him. He drove home immediately and spent the day with us. I was scared stiff... When my dad got home, I asked him what would happen now. He said to me "Boy were going to war." I enlisted in 2013 and again in 2017. I never went over myself, but I had friends that did, and 7 didn't come home. I WILL NEVER FORGET!

Those fireman that ran up the stairs knowing they probably wouldn't be coming back are the definition of tough. Thats what courage looks like!

I heard Alan Jackson say once that he didn’t write this song. God did.

I saw him sing this song in August 2002. It was raining til he started singing this song. The sky cleared and the moon was full. It was an awesome moment.

It doesn't matter how many years this song has been out there every time I hear it it brings tears to my eyes

I was giving a child a make-up test in the hallway, a teacher came running down the hall and said the U.S. has been attacked! All the TV's came on, and all I heard was crying! God Bless!

When I was 7, my Twin died. When I was 11, I was diving off a high rock alone and hit my head on the reef below. I felt something grab me and pull me to shore. When I looked up at who saved me. It was my 7 year old twin brother who looked like how i remember him. He then said I be OK and literally just disappeared hovering over me ! Can wait to see him and thank him in Heaven. I still cry today, remembering my NDE.

I don't think I'll ever forget that I was at work the day of this senseless & tragic day 😢Watching that 1st plane hit the 1st Twin Tower just seemed, surreal to me. I was in complete shock at 1st, then Watching the news coverage of all it, it just hit me & I could not stop the tears from flowing 😢 It was all just so horrific to watch as the rest of 9/11 unfolded. I was on an interstate going to my job when I heard the news on the radio. I was stationed at Ft Sill, Oklahoma at the time. I will NEVER FORGET this day!

You can hear in his voice how difficult this was to perform. Usually such a strong and steady tone, but you can hear him quiver trying to get through. So raw and emotional.

I will never forget, I was at the oil plant workink 216 feet in the air, saw it and that will never go away.

My nephew's half brother was killed in the Pentagon that day. Wonderful kid. Learned everything i need to know about Islam and their religion that day.

Oh how I remember. I was 42 years old. I had just got in the bed about 6:30 am. I was working at FedEx. About 9 o'clock am, my brother called me to ask me could I be at the hospital when our mother goes into surgery. He was a deputy chief for the Memphis police department. He had to be at a important meeting that morning. I told him yes I would. Then he went on to say to me, " I can't believe you are sleeping when your country is being attacked." I hung up, turned the TV and there it was. I pulled out a VCR tape and started recording it. I wanted to catch it in Real Time. I still have it to this day. I tip my hat off to all the one's who lost there lives fighting to save others. God be with you. R.I.P. 9/11/24

To the future generations that see this: never forget about this important event in history. And certainly, don’t let this song die out. This very day is a day to be remembered by all. It was never meant as a joke in the first place. Never. Forget.

I listen to this song often, to remind me of what really matters in life. Your loved ones, your friends, your neighbors. Don't sweat the little things in life. They mean nothing. Don't get angry, hold grudges, or do anything to hurt anyone. It's not worth it. Nothing else matters. Be good, tell them you love them every chance you get.

I'll be seeing Alan Jackson live tonight in Des Moines IA on the 20th anniversary on 9/11 probably gonna shed a tear. All I'm gonna say is God bless America.

I was cleaning in the rental office waiting room. the TV was on. Large screen TV I stopped the vacuum when I saw smoke coming from the tower. I turned up the sound. My heart sunk. I walked to the office and said come and see this, it's important. I was listening to the astonishment the grief in the newsmen's words. I watched as the second plane hit. I watched during my lunch break and started to cry as the towers began to collapse. I will never forget. I excused myself to make an important call to find out where a pilot I knew was that day. They answered he is fine. That was a huge relief. But I was still in shock for the audacity of it, the loss of life, the scale of the attack. I will never forget how I felt that day. Here in the city where I went to school the staff of a Lutheran church next door to a Mosque stood around it to protect it from hate crimes because news was saying that terrorists from the Middle East had attacked the towers. It was just hearsay. Christians stood around the Mosque to protect the peaceful Muslims inside. This is America. We take care of each other. People who have faith should live it. They did. They still do. A van full of a restaurant baseball team was coming back from a game on the east coast when they heard the news on the radio. They turned around and drove to ground zero as fast they could to provide food for the survivors and first responders. I was so proud to work for them. Those are my 9/11 stories. Thanks for asking. One of the things I love about country music, its the I love my country theme, the songs that are national anthems. This is one of the best.

I remember this like it came out. My son was headed to Afghanistan!! Song sure hit me and the rest of our/his family. We were so blessed he made it home safely. I respect and can not say Thank You for Your Service. A Marine Mom and Grandmother.

I was able to perform at my daughter's wedding ceremony because of the courage displayed here by Mr. Jackson. How do you emotionally get through this song (at that time) without crying/sobbing? He supplied most of my courage to sing without breaking down; I thought if he could do that then I could sing Ave Maria and Pieta Signore. Thank you!

The line, "stand in line to give your own blood" always gets me. That was a poignant memory in the aftermath.

Man, I'll never forget sitting in the living room watching this for the first time on the awards with my family and when it was over none of us could speak. I truly felt that lump in my throat and we were all crying. It's such a powerful song and always will be.

“Did you open your eyes and hope it never happened, close your eyes and not go to sleep?” That line slayed me as for me it was so accurate.

9/11/2021....20 yrs later. My son was 10 months old on that dreadful day. Now he is in The Navy and is part of a ceremony today on the USS Sommerset.🇺🇲⚓🇺🇲

I lived in Mayfield KY. I called my husband at work then my parents that lived in Pasadena MD and then my son and daughter that lived in Glen Burnie MD. I will always remember that day that rock my world from under my feet. So scared and cried for quite awhile about all thos3 people dying and prying to help there lov3s ones. I was in Winfield, Texas has just got up went got my coffee and came back out to my truck ready to start the day filling out my log book! Turned on the radio and heard the news! I will never forget where I was that day!

This brings tears to my eyes when I had to make funeral arrangements for my brother in 2001 when my nephew went over to Iraq it really brought tears to my eyes he was a marine and he is a stll a marine and I love him so much

My kids were in school. I knew they were okay. The news came on my TV. I stood in front of that television for at least an hour. I was sad, mad, shocked and for someone in their 30s some innocence was stolen from me that day. My kids got home from school and I hugged them and we talked. Everyone remembers where they were when they found out. I think the whole world cried. 😢

I’m just watching Country music videos right now and I clicked in this one not realizing that this was the first time he sang it in front of people.. not realizing that it was in 2001. Gave me literal chills. My dad was a firefighter EMT working in Missouri and he watched it LIVE.. he was ready to go up to New York but somebody else took his place. My dad had to step down from the job because of his illness 'Lupus' and he recently passed away.

I was born after 9/11, so this song doesn't have as great as an impact on me, but this made me cry. Alan Jackson is like a comforting father with his music. I can't explain it, but there's something about his voice that just reaches everyone's hearts.

20yrs later and this song still has the same impact and has me in tears. I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing. I'm Canadian and I remember going to work that day and everyone was like zombies in shock and disbelief at what happened to our neighbours that day. Another thing that hit us was the stories of people we knew from work that missed their flights the day before that would've been in the towers when it happened if they hadn't missed their flights. I will never forget the evil that attacked and murdered those in the buildings, surrounding areas and planes.

I was a senior in HS when 9/11 happened. I remember when this song came out and the impact it had on everyone. 20 years later it still has an impact. Hard to believe that the events of that morning would change the lives of so many and set our lives on such unbelievable paths. I served in both Iraq and Afghanistan as a result of that day.
