What a passionate chap. Nice to hear a CEO has worked on the ground and rolled their sleeves up. Great podcast. Charities can't run properly without a good chief but a hell of a lot of great volunteers & everyone in between. I'm sure the show will be smashing. Hope one day to come up north north and visit 👏🌾🐄🐑🤩

First, Iona! You're a star! Awesome job on the intro and closing remarks. So proud of you 😊. Cammy, as always it was a joy watching you engage and keep the conversation flowing. Your respectful interaction with the variety of guests is amazing. Great job mentoring Iona, giving her confidence to take part in the discussion now. Alan was a great guest, and it was fascinating to hear about the behind the scenes planning, organizing and commitment that it takes to run this great event. I hope you all have a wonderful time over the days of the show. ❤

Really enjoyed listening to this, great to hear how the Highland has developed , the logistics behind the show and above all to find out that in challenging times that surplus income no matter how little can go on to sustain ,develop and create a agricultural legacy that we should all be proud of. Well done team.

Intricacies and logistics of the Highland Games are very interesting. People need to know and appreciate just how much thought and effort to make this event successful. From the Society members, down to the grounds cleaners. Planning is keen. I did not realize it was 18 months in advance. Well done! Another avenue to show case the world about how important our agricultural communities throughout the world should be in forethought in all our future lively hood.

Iona and Cammy - what a great soft learning podcast! I’m in the middle of the Australian outback in The Northern Territory and I love hearing about the behind the scenes of business and events. Every time I see a big crowd I wonder how the hell you handle the toilet situation 🚽⁉️

Brilliant interview!! I live in Nova Scotia, Canada and all my ancestors came from Scotland. I am obsessed with all things Scottish, especially single Malt. 😊 I follow Dalscone and Cannon Hall farms and Hall Hill farm as well. They are excited about the Highland Show and that excitement is catchy, even all the way across the pond! I hope that one day, I will make the trip to Scotland to really see and absorb all your wonderful offerings❤. Love your podcasts. I could listen to you guys talk all day long.

So fabulous as a retired dairy farmer enjoying this look into Scottish farming and as a nurse COVID casts a big shadow so that was interesting to listen to the other side of virus isolation

Brilliant idea having church on Sunday and a chaplain for the whole show - recognizing the psychological needs of folks, not just the physical aspects of farming.

Y'all should talk to the people who organized the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo(if you haven'talready). They get huge crowds of people and the logistics must be hell for them also. You might be able to get some ideas from them and they might be able to get some ideas from you. It's great to share with other shows. I wish I lived in Scotland cuz I'd go just to watch everything! It sounds exciting from a City Girl living in Houston, Texas

Really interesting as an American to learn about this show. I grew up going to and participating in the Iowa State Fair, arguably the largest in the country, and I absolutely love events like this. I'm putting going to Scotland the 3rd week of June so I can go to the highland show on my bucket list. Btw, what is the kissing event thing y'all were talking about?

This was a great pod cast. A a youngster we went to the Calgary Stampede and the Stock show was what it was about for us. If we had time after we were done after days of stock show, farrier competition all that we were given enough money to get the midway. We were smart with our money, we hit the food stands and one ride 🤣. Then we hit the bus to get far enough out to make it easy enough for our parents to pick us up. Now the LRT drops you off and you can walk right into the grounds. And you’re so right, the air sizzles the minute you pay your admission.

At £99 for a couple with a car, I think that’s a good way to manage overcrowding? The only people I know that’s going to the show have free tickets.
@FedByFarmersPodcast

It’s a sensitive subject for many but I always compare it to the rugby. I’m £80 for a ticket before I do anything else. And then it’s only 80 mins of entertainment 😅… and i often leave disapointed 🤣

We go to Disneyland twice a year. We pay around $225.00 per day per ticket. And if you want a drink of water, that's $4.00. A soda, $4.00 or $5.00. A meal costs $25.00 per person. Parking costs a minimum of $35.00 per day. It's a 2 hour drive for us. We live very close.

Has Alan and the Trustees considered Composting Toilets? Also known as Dry Toilets They probably won’t appeal to the older generations but it is worth giving them a go and publicising their Environmental Benefits in advance and see if the younger people attending the Event take to them I am Gen Z and I would In fact I have many times while attending outside events with a Green theme As well as Camp sites that were redesigned for a low environmental impact It was a bit of a culture shock to begin with but I soon adjusted to them Absolutely no smell too! Just saying Hugs
