I've always loved hearing composers sing their own songs because you can feel what they originally intended the pieces to be rather than how the performers or directors interpreted them. Alan Menken and Lin-Manuel Miranda are my favorite because, although their vocal qualities aren't the greatest, they put a lot of emotion into their performances.
