Sally Phillips' ability to just stand there and smirk is brilliant. She doesn't have a lot to say, but what she says is hilarious. Greenall's Geordie accent is classic (he isn't from Newcastle), Amelia Bullmore as Sonja is wonderfully done (Amelia is English). Just a great cast of characters. The best thing Coogan ever did, in my opinion.
So lucky to have this standard of comedy in my formative years. It was the first comedy that I loved but my parents and the overwhelming majority of my friends at school hated but Alan is still going strong to this day so needless to say I had the last laugh
The hidden social commentary that a bloke who was trained and trusted to make split second tactical decisions, using equipment worth millions - and use deadly force where necessary - is now reduced to menial tasks at the whim of a shrill, officious jobsworth.
It's like Hugh G.Rekshun ,Mike Oxlong,, Hugh Jampton and R swipe I keep meaning to go down my local benefit office and book an appointment just so they'll call these names on the tsnnoy
I love the way Michael gets really into it '..... And move and fire and move and fire'! In his mind he is reliving a past experience and is in a different world! He even said 'Reload'! hahaha.
how beautiful is the original receptionist in green ? if you're the actress who played this role, and you're scrolling back, you are beautiful. Lovely lovely lovely.
This wasn't written by Graham Linehan, he didn't have any involvement in writing Partridge! He's in this episode briefly, but otheriwse all episodes of I'm Alan Partridge were written by Peter Baynham, Steve Coogan and Armando Iannucci. Linehan couldn't come close to the greatness of that trio! Linehan's comedy is weak by comparison, and now he's a right nutcase
I never quite got Coogan/Ianucci mocking ELO. It could be I'm reading it slightly wrong, but they try to imply they were somehow uncool because Alan likes them - but ELO were in fact genuinely brilliant. I would understand it more if they went for a lesser, silly 70s band or something.
I'm in love with Sally Phillips. Oh those eyes. And those high cheekbones. Oh shit. It's happened again. At this rate I'll be needing a second washing machine.
I love how Lynn's arrival basically involves the heavy box being passed back to her (twice) and then Alan testing his breath gas on her before she gets into the lift.
