Well said, he was the master of subtle body language and expressing emotion with just a look. In the book Colonel Brandon is clearly the "sensible" choice but he does come across rather flat and slightly boring - when I saw this movie for the first time as a teenager from the moment the Colonel/Alan sets his eyes on her - the look on his face - I could not wrap my mind around the fact how on earth she could be so BLIND! He was such an extraordinary expressive actor even without word... and then, well "the voice".
When he's outside the room where Maryanne is so ill & he's running his hand along the wall like he's trying to hold himself back from running in there to her side. I'm not a romantic, but that was a really good way to show Colonel Brandon, who's got a lot of self-control, was over the moon for Maryann. ❤ Alan Rickman

And his softly spoken, "I shall run mad",😍 from his such gentle disposition you wouldn't think that'd be possible for him nor would want to see how that might express itself in a man like himself.
Colonel, a gentlemen any woman would be happy to have as a partner. Alan rickman truly interpreted the character better than anyone could have. The definition of a gentleman, strong and sensible is what this character represents.

I miss him. I did not know him personally, and yet I feel as though I did. Sometimes it pains my heart to even say his name, and this isn't even love. He was a good person, kind and smart. He was an accomplished actor. He was as music to the soul.
Alan Rickman was a wonderful actor who was very good in every role he played, but this was the role I loved him in the best. He was like a little lost puppy, and all you wanted to do was take him home with you and hug and love him. Alan is so greatly missed !!

Whenever I am scanning channels looking for something to watch if I come to this movie no matter where it is in the movie I stop and watch it doesn’t matter day or night I watch it. I’m currently reading Alan’s journals. I highly recommend them the only downside is you’re missing him more.

Había leido una vez que en una entrevista, le preguntaron que a que personaje de los que habia interpretado sentía que se parecía más y el respodió (sin ser jactancioso) que al Coronel Brandon. Marianne, in the end, absolutely deserved Colonel Brandon. She deserved him on his terms, which is good enough for me.
