How a team plays in a final is largely irrelevant, especially in the face of the result. The best teams capitalise on chances presented to them even if they're playing badly. You don't win the game simple by creating chances, it's the scoring that counts.

I’m a spurs fan, and i agree with Shearer. We looked strong in possession but never really looked like opening them up. Chelsea has a game plan and if worked . Whereas spurs just hugged and puffed.

Jenas has always been a weird one for me as pundit selection. I mean, fair play to him, he's had a career in football, made his living, can retire. But there are absolutely fucking loads of retired players who's opinions and knowledge is worth more for tuning into.

years ago, during the KD era, there was an open day at the training ground, a few of the players were doing keep ups and tricks, one fan asked Shearer, why carnt you do it, so he took the ball and did some keeps ups, he turned to the fan and said, id do it more if there was a point to it, you just have to put the ball in the back of the net, and im good at that.

Dude Frank lampard isn't a good manager. Very few people think he is good. The only reason he ever was allowed to manage Chelsea is cause he played for Chelsea. And the only reason it looks as though Chelsea are doing well is cause he spent a ton of money on like 10 attackers.

The point is this. No matter how many titles, trophies, goals or caps they may have won, Shearer was saying that Chelsea deserved the victory. Even Chelsea fans would be hard pressed to say that they deserved it, they were under the cosh for large chunks of the game, just as Man Utd didn't deserve to beat Southampton in the League Cup final. Jenas was just calling him on his misplaced view. In football though, you often don't get what you deserve.
csb73 The only point Jenas had was that Spurs dominated possession and kept Chelsea in their own half. If you knew anything about football you'd know Chelsea are a counter attacking team, so they were happy to sit and soak up the pressure from Spurs and hit on the break, and it clearly worked
Didn’t sound like shearer was saying that at all, sounded like he was saying chelsea took their chances and Tottenham had all the possession but only managed 4 shots on target, remember watching it thinking we had no chance the way we played but we done what the top teams do, find any way to win finals
It doesnt matter who is 'under the cosh,' the one statistic that counts for anything in football is goals, and it doesn't matter how you score them, they are deservedly earned regardless. You wouldn't give Spurs 3 goals here because they 'deserved the win.' Chelsea deserved to win this game as they scored 4 goals to Tottenham's 2 and unless the scoreline was affected by a big refereeing error, Chelsea deserved the win
csb73 ofcourse Chelsea deserved the victory, they won the game, that means they deserved it, they were more clinical, possession doesn't win you games kid, Spurs only had 4 shots on goal and conceded 4 goals, obviously they didn't deserve to win

Don Jon jenas had a point but the fan side got the better of him there, usually very well composed.. i remember watching it live and cringing at the fact that he sounded quite pathetic which to be fair to him as a pundit is unlike him.

I agree,he has criticised Newcastle in the past and with good reason as they werent playing good football,bought bad players,management was questionable.What i said though was if Newcastle had played like spurs did and dominated chelsea but still lost then im sure he wouldnt say that chelsea deserved to win. He would give credit where credits due if it was his beloved Newcastle camping chelsea in their own half.
I actually think Jermaine Jenas is a better pundit than Shearer. Theres more depth on him tactically than Shearer. (Who is shite). However contrary to alot of people on the comments sections....who cares how much a player has achieved trophy wise...it never correlates how they as a pundit. Most ex players talks rubbish and has zero tactical knowledge. Jenas isnt great either...but way better than some of the others.
