Alan Silvestri conducts "Portals" from AVENGERS: ENDGAME at Seth MacFarlane's Christmas Party on December 14, 2019. Check out my site, scoringsessions.com!
blaster915 Agreed. But you should see the people who go to symphonies! The theatre is always packed and the tickets cost a pretty penny. These musicians in those chairs deserve every penny.
@@nairocamilo you do realize film composers have to compromise their soundtracks at times for the flow of the film right? Music has to go with the scene of the film. Some of the better filmmakers during important moments actually do it the other way around and design a scene around the music.
@@ravimanne8148 True, but wouldn't Alan be creating the music at a pace that goes with the movie? That is, if he watched the scene and created this music to go along with it (yes), then the pace he made the music in the movie was the way he intended it. So this rendition is an alteration of his own original score. Not that he's not allowed to do it, but this is not the original that he created for that scene at that pace. Just saying.
Oscars are nothing but politically correct bullshit. They won't recognize MCU films or the amazing work of Alan Silvestri. Screw them. No one cares about them any more. It took about 20 years, but now NO ONE cares who wins at the Oscars any more. They've ruined their own BRAND.
@Bhavya Nayyar exactly, endgame lost the visual effects oscar, for 1917! It was the biggest movie of all time and it was great and that was the only nomination for it, Christopher nolan has never won an oscar the only mcu movie that won Oscars is black panther and that's only because of it's cultural influence the Oscars are trash and I'm not saying thay just because of endgame or the mcu but a lot more
I'd agree, but I think Joker had my favorite soundtrack ever, and that's a tough title to earn with me being a musician. Most deserved Oscar in a long time imo
Cause they probably gave him a lot of lead chart and this was probably the last song of the evening and his chops were already done. Trumpet players can get fatigued if they’ve been playing nonstop
ShadoWolfX7 no real excuse at that level. When you're that good/getting paid that much, it's your job to make sure your face is good for the whole show. Because they're paying you for quality the entire show. Feces occurs, yes but if doing something is gonna mess up the performance, it's your job as the professional to conduct yourself safely and healthily. If you play too hard the whole night and can't make it, it's your problem. When I fuck up in my semi professional ensemble, my director doesn't care that I've had studio rehearsal, and 3 other ensembles that drained my face. He cares that I missed the note.
At the 1:50 mark is where this sends chills up my spine. From now until the end of time, when Alan Silvestri's name is mentioned, he will be remembered as the composer for the Avengers movies!
Seth MacFarlane made a real life Family Guy cutaway gag. "Hey Lois, remember that time Alan Silvestri showed up at my Christmas party and played his hit score from Avengers Endgame?"
God no, id be lying if I said I didn't want that too, but Seth himself said that the blue Harvest episodes were an absolute drain on his staff. FOX DEMANDED they do Strikes Back and Return because it had netted the network a SHIT TON OF MONEY, even though the process of writing and animating that crap was absolute hell on those involved. That whole title crawl rant in return? That wasn't a joke. I think for everyone's sanity, the network needs to lay off Seth doing parody works, he's a nerd, but being forced to write shit you don't wanna do is how one kills a writers creativity
The beautiful thing about this theme is that, Even if I closed my eyes, the whole scene from the movie Avengers Endgame,Pans out in my mind... Awesome theme..
If you think this theme wasn't worthy of an oscar You are absolutely right But lemme correct you by adding.... The Oscars weren't worthy of this Masterpiece
If you thought you heard some mistakes, such as people playing at the wrong pitch for a second or sounds feeling drained out, that was simply the camera's microphone.
_primecode I believed this was recorded on a phone and some sounds can sound out of tune on mobile microphones since they just don’t have the range as professional mics do. There probably was one or two mistakes though
I’ve played trumpet for 23-years. Up to and including during college. Not taking anything away from this, but there were some mistakes, at least in trumpet. I know what happens when your lip gets beat and you’re forcing high notes like that. This is a very difficult piece that I know pretty well because I’ve heard and played it myself a bunch. It’s not “technically” difficult, but you’re putting a lot of air behind some of the notes, especially in trumpet 1 where you’re in the rafters quite a bit.
_primecode 1:08/1:09 the lead (1st) trumpet part squibs you a bit. I’ve played for 23-years and there are definitely some booboos in the trumpet section. It honestly sounds a little like the lead trumpet got gassed by the end. This is a high piece and requires a ton of lip/endurance to execute properly. Certainly more than I have right now...so taking nothing away from the trumpet player - mad respect there.
The beginning of this is when I had tears streaming down my face, and then the next bit was when I was yelling (along with everyone else in the theater), "YEAH!!!"
Watching this a year later, and all the emotions from being in the theater opening night come back to me. That's when you re-realize the impact of every single individual factor coming together for one immaculate finale.

Having an orchestra play an iconic theme from an iconic movie is one thing, but having Alan Silvestri himself conducting it is a whole different level. I have personally never seen Endgame before, but I know this theme. So cool!
This is the kind of "I'm a millionaire" spending that you can't overly argue? It makes a lot of people happy, and I'm sure Alan and his orchestra got a nice check out of it.
The fact that Alan Silvestri was not nominated for Best Original Score is criminal. Listening to this you can "see" the portals opening and T'Challa walk through and Falcon flying through and Giant Man busting through the rubble. Robbed he was, I say.
He should have had them perform the 'End Credits' to "Predator 2", that's an amazing and insane score by Alan Silvestri. By far, my favorite score by the composer.
