Originally released by Enigma & Milan on LP and CD in 1986, the first release of "The Delta Force" was notorious because the CD omitted an important track from the LP program "The Rescue" (Track 23). The first complete edition of the score was released by Intrada Records back in 2008, but their limited edition of 1000 copies was sold out in just four hours! This video brings together every single piece of score material composed for the film (from Intrada's 2008 release) as well as "The Delta Force (The 1986 Soundtrack Album)" scores (which were released back in 1986) by Enigma & Milan Records. All these scores were finally released together as a limited edition deluxe package by Quartet Records in 2013 (only 1000 copies exist). "The Delta Force" is a 1986 American action film starring Chuck Norris and Lee Marvin (in his final film appearance) as leaders of an elite group of Special Operations Forces personnel based on the real life U.S. Army Delta Force unit. Based on the real life terrorist plot of the hijacked TWA Flight 847 in the summer of 1985, "The Delta Force" (1986) by The Cannon Group is one of the most successful and memorable mission movies from the 1980s. Directed, co-written and co-produced by Menahem Golan, the film features Martin Balsam, Joey Bishop, Robert Vaughn, Steve James, Robert Forster, Shelley Winters, George Kennedy, and an uncredited Liam Neeson in an early role. It is the first installment in The Delta Force film series. Two sequels were eventually produced, entitled "Delta Force 2: The Colombian Connection" and the direct-to-video "Delta Force 3: The Killing Game". Alan Silvestri is best known for his numerous collaborations with director Robert Zemeckis, having scored Romancing the Stone, the Back to the Future trilogy, Forrest Gump, Contact, Cast Away and The Polar Express. Silvestri is also known for his work in Predator and Predator 2. When it comes to Silvestri's "The Delta Force" score, you can really hear the similarities to the "Back To The Future" themes, especially in tracks like: "Main Title" (Track 1) or "Rescue" (Track 5). While Zemeckis' "Back To The Future" movie demanded an epic orchestral accompaniment, "The Delta Force" score however is fully electronic and was realized with the Synclavier digital music synthesizer system. Overall, even though it has no live instruments in it, Silvestri's music for 1986's "The Delta Force" spans one of the most epic and patriotic marches from the 1980s in addition to creepy textures for the terrorists and even some sympathetic character building moments. This complete OST soundtrack score was released under Quartet Records, Intrada Records, Enigma & Milan Records '86.
