Watch us nerd out and attempt the gun handling of Alan Wake. In this survival horror-ish game, the firearm choices are really interesting. The way the guns are handled is even more so.
I thought that this was a reference to Garth Marengi's Dark Place, but the Dark Place is part of the Alan Wake game. Even so, check out the Garth Dark Place. It's hilarious.
I noticed that your fastest reloads were actually just a little longer then the game animations which is cool. I have no idea how many times they must have made actor Ilkka Villi do the reload to get it down to be 'practical' enough for game purposes. You mentioned that Alan sort of uses a competitive shooting stance, which makes sense as Alan actually tells an NPC in the first game that he learned to shoot as research for his crime novels and took up competitive shooting because of that.
I actually goofed and played the 2nd game before the first. It was nice little added bit about the competition to make the shooting make a little more sense for Alan. Maybe someday I can speed my loads up a bit and keep up lol
I really like this kind of content. I'm sort of on the reverse end of this paradigm. 30 years old and just got my first Xbox. My lifelong love of firearms is seriously affecting what games I want to play.
I love the fact that how you can see the difference in firearm knowledge between Saga and Wake. Wake in the first game already had some semblance of gun knowledge, being a crime thriller novelist and all that, but sheriff Breaker pointed out that his knowledge left a lot to be desired, citing his description of flipping off the safety on a revolver. Considering that the world Wake's stuck in is literally a world of pure imagination, some of the things could be excused of being more influenced by his writing. It's good that it took Wake almost 13 years to learn you can smack the ejector rod and the existence of a speedloader tho.
tbh, she IS handling more enemies AND boss enemies after all lol. I LOVED that about the game: the fact that we got a different mood and gameplay style with the two protagonists.
@SidPhoenix2211 it was really awesome to have a different play style to pop back and forth between. Helped break up the pace of the game and make you want to get back to each story
@penyuwan Yeah. Saga holds her flashlight how the FBI trains their agents, too. Alan holds a flashlight like a guy who's juggling a gun in one hand and has been doing this to survive for far to long.
