I loved this explained, I think this game was made to turn back the story as a updated for the things we forgot back to 2010. Could be not trascendental story game, bacause Alan didn't escape exactly, he never met Alice, just a flashbacks or vision (this was in last minutes after return ti the cabin in the final chapter). Conclusion: This was the tenor, the INICIATION, The meeting of the old and news characters from the next game of Alan Wake. Maybe the final part of this trilogy :9

There was definitely a strong element of clearing things up and realigning them with the current state of the Remedy Connected Universe for sure. I totally agree with your assessment that this game is meant to be the Initiation phase of Alan's hero journey! Things are getting clearer. I think we will see how it end with Alan Wake 3 (will the spiral end and how far can it go ?) Now let’s see the secrets and lore.
