This album came out of nowhere and slapped me upside the head. I'm still not recovered. Pure classic, I still love it.

That entire album is a classic. Give it a listen.

Doesn't she just knock you out with those lyrics!? Not to mention her unique vocals...she came onto the 90's scene like a nuke!

It's hard to describe the effect of hearing this opening song as a young woman. I don't think it's over reaching to say that this album had such a profound effect on me that it somehow changed me. Love Alanis. Love her lyrics and the slap in the face the truthfulness was back in those days.

She has an awesome gritty edge to her voice...beautiful

Had the absolute honor (yes honor) of seeing her live in concert a little over a year ago. An amazing concert. Nothing flashy, just Alanis, her band, and her microphone.

I love her....her newer songs Ablaze and Reasons I Drink are amazing! I saw her in 2019 for her Jagged Little Pill Anniversary Tour with Garbage....it was one of...if not the best concert I've ever been too.

One of the things I really loved about her music is her dynamic choruses. They don't always contain the same lyrics, but they have the same sound and vib. It's fantastic song writing and you rarely see it anywhere else.

God this takes me back. This entire album is flawless! She came out of nowhere and took the world by storm with her debut album. And I can't say enough about how great it really is. Her music is an attitude it's so funky and different the way she enunciates when she sings is awesome!

Forgiven is the best song on the album imho, it's an iconic 90s album.

I had the Alanis album, Jagged little pill when I was in my early 20s and played it constantly, now I’m 50 and I equally love it. New subscriber to your channel and love these reaction videos and you come across as a really nice guy x

After listening to Jagged little pill, go look up the acoustic album. She went back and did the songs in a softer acousric style, a decade later. So beautiful

have you listened to "Surrendering"? I think it is an overlooked masterpiece, especially from a lyrics perspective.

I was a casual music fan who didnt really go out of my way to collect albums in the 90s (big mistake now I know) but this album..I HAD TO OWN THIS ALBUM. Thats the earth shattering wake this album left on us!

Right in the middle of the grunge or Seattle sound, a powerful wave of female singer.songwriter types hit it big and were the alternative to alternative rock. Jewel, Alanis, the Cranberries, No Doubt (Gwen Stefani) and Sheryl Crow were kicking ass in 1993-1997. Then autotune, the boy bands, and Brittanies turned music into a big American Idol contest instead of ultra creative melodies and twists and turns.

You should really listen to the acoustic version of this album. Its amazing!!!!

For context: I'm GenX and every Alanis song is my favorite Alanis song. Still think this is one of the best albums ever, ever, ever. Also, Tori Amos, Little Earthquakes. Alanis spoke to us in the '90s. She is an amazing songwriter and so edgy. Amazing stuff. Wish we had songs like this these days, anything to get excited about and a bit of poetry in lyrics would also be great!

There is some genius in putting that on words, but when you listen to those lyrics, you gotta end up thinking to yourself "yes, that's how the nineties felt".

Imagine a "bubblegum pop" fan of pretty little standard-issue popstar Alanis...putting on song #1 of her new "Jagged Little Pill" album...and swallowing this deep howl of frustration at what is meaningless. She walked away from what looked like it might be a "successful" singing career; she risked her future for truth and depth. She's some incredible songwriting hero, this one.
