@JEBPsych
@JEBPsych 2 года назад
Nah...not troubled at all. A lot of people misinterpret the song...it's not about a "normal" break up; it's about being in the midst of what one thinks is a loving union, and then BAM...left with no warning, no closure, and "ghosting". It's classic narcissistic behavior by the person who abruptly leaves, and the other person is left to pick up the pieces. It's like being emotionally hit by a semi. A number of my guy friends have been through the same, and they love this song. 😉

I believe that is Taylor Hawkins from the Foo Fighters drumming for her. Story goes Dave called him after he fired the first Foo drummer and asked him if he knew a drummer available and Taylor said "Ya me". You got to understand this was before Foo hit big and Dave was trying to launch it he didn't think Taylor would quit a good paying gig to join his upstart band.

A male colleague at work got all excited telling me about her when this first song of hers dropped in ’95, saying she was “pissed off!” But he meant it in a “that’s hot” sort of way. I actually prefer her other hits from the debut album “Jagged Little Pill,” namely “Head Over Feet,” “Hand in My Pocket,” “Your Learn,” and “Ironic” (yes, even though she doesn’t know what “ironic” means). She led a wave of great, stripped-down female vocalists in the late ‘90s, including Jewel, Lisa Loeb, Natalie Merchant, Joan Osborne, and Natalie Imbruglia---more raw, pure and less-produced than powerhouses Mariah Carey and Celine Dion.
@bramh4149
@bramh4149 3 года назад
Jagged Little Pill wasn't her debut album. Her self titled album Alanis came out in 1991 and was a whole lot different than Jagged Little Pill. She was a pop princess on that one. Look up the songs Too Hot, Walk Away, or Plastic. Jagged Little Pill is actually her 3rd album. She released a second pop album called Now Is The Time in 1992 as well.

It's one of the first CDs I ever bought myself, and the first live concert I went to with friends instead of my parents! This song is, I gave you everything, fell totally for you, and you never let me in, and now you're pretending we were never together!
