She' not underrated She's Allanah Myles, in a time of pop and rap and Metal She came out with bluesey country, She literally did what no one else did and it shot her to super stardom there is no way she is underrated Black Velvet was one of the most played songs and was ALWAYS on video hits. She's not underrated
I was 12 years old when I seen this chick in Ottawa it was my first outdoor concert , she blew my mind with her voice I knew right then and there I was gonna have an open mind for music. Alannah Myles you had me at "Show me"
When singers with less talent get all the views and air time you know that Alannah would not sleep her way to the top. Cause that is what you gotta do when real talent (like Alannah's) doesn't get to the top. A talented artist with the strength of soul.
it's criminal that the views for this isn't in the MILLIONS! And she's got some wild eyes. Man she was way hot. This song rules too. wold rather listen to this any day over what's on the radio now
@@elisabetpurve2908 from what I understand she was seeing a chiropractor who had requested to see her more often than what is recommended and buggered up her neck or something
@@jordantreyofficial Yes. Music now sounds mostly the same regardless of gender. 70/80s artists and bands (for example Marillion, Queen, AC/DC), god, they were on a different level. I really wish that music like that will be back soon.
Agree 100%, the texture of her voice is completely unique. To me "Love in the Big Town" is one of the best rock songs ever produced. Her Rocking Horse album is pure perfection
Was??? She's still alive, dude! Underrated??? Speak for yourself! I used to listen to her as a teenager on repeat, owning a copy of her album. Black Velvet was my teen moody hymn! LOL! I've even visited her in concert in Prague in the late 90's.
I’m convinced the 80s was the most awesome era of our time. I’m so damn sad I got only baby memories of the 90s I won’t ever get to experience a great amazing decade. Depressing. My generation sucks so much
Someone said that the music you grow up on when you're 14-17 is the most important factor in what you'll compare current music to. And I think that's correct.... Every decade has its ups and downs, believe me. In hindsight, and that's usually about 20 years later, those decades certainly look great. But were they really?... I was born in '65, and consciously lived through the latter half of the 70s and beyond, and I'm just saying: don't believe everything you see or hear. Remember those typical 80s series like Miami Vice etc? Life simply wasn't like thát. We actually thought the 80s music totally sucked, back then. With a few exceptions of course... And it's actually so much easier to listen to that 80s electronic music now 🤣🤣 Same with 90s - trust me, it wasn't all about wearing checkered shirts and (speaking of depressing....) listening to grunge 🤣 I used to think the same as you about the 60s - which I was too you to remember. There was still an innocence that remained from the 50s, right before everything went to shit with Vietnam happening and drugs (and related crimes) becoming a massive problem.... The 90s definitely had their good moments, and so do the 00s and 10s. In time you'll see that too. Don't let it wear you down - and don't feel guilty of missing it either: I've been to some 80s / 90s revival parties (all the good stuff and none of the bad 🤣🤣) and I'm sure there will be parties for more recent decades too. Enjoy them.
This song is TOTALLY HOT!! It is THE PERFECT mix of R&B / POP / ADULT CONTEMPORARY and COUNTRY ALL IN ONE!! So sad that Alannah did not have more hits -- this song should get a 2018 DANCE REMIX VERSION!!
I had the cassette for this album when it came out. It had lots of play time in the car. Didn't have cable TV at the time and don't remember this video. Damn glad to see it now. Wow! Glad I can relive this era on youtube, and much better on the big screen today than the old 15" crt.
Oh my God! Why did she disappear from the media? She is big and powerful as celine dion, so what happened? Why did this super star disappear? We want Alannah Myles back, we want the good voice back, we want the good music back, we want Alannah Myles!
so catchy, what a stunning beauty, love the contrast of cherry red lips and her alabaster skin, and the smokey rasp in her voice..good lord she's got it all.
Love is..... patient and kind; love is not jealous or boastful; it is not arrogant or rude. Love does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrong, but rejoices in the right. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
it's criminal that the views for this isn't in the MILLIONS! And she's got some wild eyes. The Rockstar version of Madonna :) Man she was way hot. This song rules too. loved this album
God, I was in love with her back in the day. I saw one of, if not, her very first performances where she opened for Bryan Adams in Revelstoke, BC. This song still rocks, I still reach for the volume every time it comes on the radio. Today's music is nothing like this.
I've known this song before I even really heard "Black Velvet" and in spite of hearing that and also the whole Alannah Myles album, this song is still BY FAR my favorite of hers. For some reason it just speaks to me. Also the video is soooooo sultry. 😍
My friend Robs father met allanahs father at a party in Toronto. The bass is really good talented band with Alannah hoping she will come to the festival of lights in Peterborough Ontario Canada 🇨🇦
im a new fan! the first song i listened of her's was black valvet Vocal delivery second to none. Literally stunning. wold rather listen to this any day over what's on the radio now

Yo compré el cassette de Alannah en 1990 sólo por esta canción. Me gustaba Black Velvet, pero cuando lanzó este single, me encantó y ella me terminó de convencer. Tremenda cantante. Aún conservo ese cassette.
She will always be the true Alannah. She knows what real rock is. Her and Pat Benatar. I would love to see the real women of rock get together when the covid is over. Alannah Myles, Pat Benatar, Heart, etc. She doesn't have a whiney voice like Alanna Morissette. 💜💛
